The game developers said that more than 90 images and videos from the next edition of the GTA franchise have been leaked by a hacker online.

On Sunday the leaked content was posted after it was described as one of the biggest security breaches in gaming. Rockstar Games is unclear about how network intrusion could occur but the firm confirmed that the early development footage from GTA VI has been stolen. Later stolen footage was put on the Grand Theft Auto Forums site by a user, teapotuberhacker.

The hacker claimed that he gained access to the data by breaching the internal feed of Rockstar on the Slack messaging app. According to him, he invited executives to negotiate to avoid further leaks. Additional revelations could include assets, source code, and testing builds from both GTA 5 and GTA 6. And this revelation could be damaging to the operations of the company, Rockstar.

The leaked material has already been spread widely on social media though the original post has been removed by moderators. However, Rockstar Games has reportedly issued takedown orders to remove the footage from Twitter and YouTube.
