Twitter to offer amnesty to some suspended accounts, says Elon Musk

Twitter suspended accounts
The Silicon Review
25 November, 2022

From next week, Twitter will provide a "general amnesty" to some suspended accounts, said Elon Musk.

This news came after Mr. Musk started a poll on Wednesday asking the users on the platform whether accounts that had not engaged in egregious spam or broken the law should be let back on the social media platform. Twitter owners have already reinstated many accounts, including that of former US President Donald Trump.

It was seen that more than 3.1 million Twitter users responded to the poll by Mr. Musk, and 72.4% of them voted "Yes". The world’s richest person with 118.7 million Twitter followers later tweeted that as the people have spoken, the amnesty will begin next week. To say so, he used a Latin phrase that means "the voice of the people is the voice of God".

However, Elon Musk has not given details on how the amnesty process would be carried out. On Saturday, he reinstated the account of the former US president, after running a poll in which users backed the move. But Donald Trump might not return to the platform, as he sees no reason for it. Twitter owner has also reactivated the Twitter accounts of influencer Andrew Tate and rapper Kanye West.
