Impossible Objects’ Jay Walker paints John Deere’s Woman Empowerment in VFX

Impossible Objects produced an inventive spot for John Deere, a company greatly involved with agriculture, construction, forestry machinery, and technology. To strengthen its venture, "All Kinds of Fields," the company showed the audience a life from a young girl’s point of view. Signal Theory, a team at Impossible Objects, and the director Jay Walker headed this vision. IO gathered its technical prowess, from computer graphics work to shooting on an LED volume to the traditional VFX, to bring to life the flawless mix of virtual and physical elements, from the rough layout of an idea to the screens. Starting at the John Deere toy truck in the girl’s bedroom to the grown woman drawing on the virtual garage walls, the subtle VFX details made all the difference and had an impact on the viewers. Virtual production bridged the gap between the dreamland and today’s reality.

With the tight production schedule, The Impossible Objects Virtual Art Department managed to successfully create three virtual scenarios, namely the industrial garage, the engineering room, and mission control. It also strung along the set extension for the LED volume and a couple of fully CG components like the John Deere tractor. Walker went on record and stated that John Deere’s efforts to support women in STEM are gracious and that being able to hire a woman from “Free to Work” was exceedingly rewarding.
