Viz.ai and Medtronic have joined forces in a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the coordination of care for cryptogenic stroke patients across neurology and cardiology disciplines. Through this collaboration, stroke care teams in the United States will gain access to Viz Connect, a software solution designed to streamline communication between neurology and cardiology teams, particularly for stroke patients at risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) post-stroke and requiring additional cardiac monitoring. Recent findings from clinical studies highlight the pressing need for standardized care pathways between neurology and cardiology, particularly evident in both community hospitals and academic centers. For instance, data from the DiVERT Stroke clinical study revealed that a significant percentage of stroke patients did not receive cardiology consultation, emphasizing the necessity for improved coordination between the two specialties. Chris Mansi, CEO and co-founder of Viz.ai, expressed confidence that this collaboration with Medtronic will bridge the gap between cardiology and neurology, ultimately enhancing patient care and reducing the risk of secondary stroke recurrence.

Viz.ai reports that the implementation of Viz Connect has already shown positive outcomes in improving patient access to cardiac care following cryptogenic strokes, which affect approximately 800,000 individuals annually in the USA. Notable impacts of Viz Connect include a substantial increase in in-patient cardiology follow-up rates and a significant reduction in the time taken for neurology-to-cardiology notifications to be reviewed, averaging under five minutes.
