Glovo Integrates Social Media with Food Discovery, Launching Interactive Features for Users

Glovo has become the first in its industry to merge social media features with food discovery, unveiling a series of innovative updates that allow users to connect, share, and explore food experiences in a more interactive way. This major product update, showcased at Glovo’s "Glovo Next" event in Barcelona, introduces a social element to the app, allowing customers to recommend restaurants, share personalized lists via 'Picks,' and follow friends for dining inspiration.

The standout feature, 'Picks,' enables users to create custom lists of their favorite restaurants and dishes, categorized by occasion or location, making food discovery more personalized. Another exciting addition is a video wall showcasing short clips from restaurant kitchens, offering customers an authentic behind-the-scenes glimpse of their meals being prepared. Glovo's Chief Product Officer Daniel Alonso emphasized the company’s goal of being a pioneering technology leader, despite its Spanish origins. Meanwhile, CEO Oscar Pierre Miquel highlighted the growing user behavior of sharing food experiences, which inspired the new features.

In addition to the app enhancements, Glovo continues to expand internationally, with significant growth in Africa, and has invested €60 million in the region. The company’s impact also extends beyond business, with its philanthropic efforts through the Glovo Impact Fund, which has delivered 7.5 million meals to those in need. The new features will be available across Glovo’s 23 markets and over 1,500 cities in the coming months.
