Bajaj Launches New Chetak Electric Scooter at Rs 1.20 Lakh

Bajaj launches updated Chetak electric scooter in India with improved design, battery, and features.

Bajaj Auto on Tuesday launched the updated model of its electric scooter, Chetak in Indian market, with 3502 variant priced from Rs 1.20 lakh to the ex-showroom of this variant, while variant 3501 costs Rs 1.27 lakh and also will be followed by an introductory 3503 variant of it. The Chetak has been present in India since 2020. With this 2024 model, it comes full of powertrain, design, and feature updates to make the bike "the best Chetak yet."

The new Chetak retains the neo-classic look of the predecessor, with a metallic body, a circular headlamp with DRL, and a sleek apron with integrated turn indicators. Importantly, the scooter comes with a longer floorboard and an extended single-piece seat that is now 80mm longer for better comfort. The rear has retained the extended tail section with smooth side panels, but the scooter has added a larger 35-litre boot space.

The 2024 Chetak comes with a new digital instrument cluster featuring a 5-inch touch TFT screen. It comes with navigation using integrated maps, call management, music control, and document storage. Safety-wise, it has geo-fence, theft alert, accident detection, and overspeed warnings. The company has replaced traditional mechanical switches with tactile switches to give it a more modern look.

Under the hood, the new Chetak has a 3.5 kWh battery pack that drives a 4 kW motor, which can take the scooter to a top speed of 73 km/h. It offers a range of more than 150 km on a single charge and has a real-world range of 125 km. The 950-watt on-board charger can charge the battery from 0 to 80% in just 3 hours, making the Chetak a practical and efficient option for electric mobility.
