CBD and THCV Combo Linked to Weight Loss, Lower Blood Pressure, and Improved Metabolic Health in Study.

According to a new study that has just appeared in the Cannabis journal, the combination of cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) is associated with weight loss and beneficial effects on metabolism. The study investigated the influence of oral CBD/THCV strips on body weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, and lipid profiles.

Run over a period of 90 days, the experiment had 44 subjects who took either a placebo or oral strips with 8 mg of THCV and 10 mg of CBD (low dose) or 16 mg of THCV and 20 mg of CBD (high dose). The strips were taken once a day with no alteration to diet or physical exercise.

The findings indicated that 66.7% of the low-dose group and 70% of the high-dose group lost weight, with an average of 5.7 lbs and 9 lbs, respectively. The placebo group lost a mere 0.2 lbs on average. Furthermore, almost all the participants in the low-dose group and 70% of the high-dose group experienced decreases in abdominal girth.

Apart from weight reduction, the THCV/CBD therapy was associated with reduced systolic blood pressure and lower total and LDL cholesterol, markers of better cardiovascular health. Scientists observed that the higher-dose therapy more effectively produced such outcomes.

The research is in line with emerging studies indicating that CBD could impact metabolism and weight control. Prior research has revealed that cannabinoids such as CBD and cannabigerol (CBG) have the potential to treat metabolic syndrome and promote burning of fat.

While the research involved a limited sample, it holds encouraging results that CBD, along with THCV, could help in weight loss and metabolic wellness. With the growing popularity of CBD for well-being, more studies must be conducted to investigate its complete potential for weight loss and well-being.
