NTPC Kaniha Shows Social Responsibility by Distributing Assistive Devices to Residents

NTPC Kaniha showcases social responsibility by providing assistive devices to enhance mobility for beneficiaries.

The Talcher Super Thermal Power Station, commonly known as NTPC Talcher Kaniha, is situated in the Angul district of Odisha, India. NTPC is the owner and operator of this 3000 MW coal-fired power station.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, NTPC Kaniha provided a variety of assisted living gadgets to the elderly and disabled residents of Kaniha Block, marking a significant step towards openness and social responsibility. The initiative's goals were to improve the member’s mobility and quality of life.

About 41 beneficiaries received tricycles, wheelchairs, hand-propelled tricycles, battery-operated tricycles, blind canes, hearing aids, and other necessary assistive items during the special distribution camp held on March 19, 2025. Representatives from the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and other HR and CSR authorities were also present.

Shri Sehgal, who is the Executive Director of NTPC Kaniha, while speaking during the function, expressed the expectation that the assistive equipment will significantly improve the recipients' mobility, independence, and general well-being while also repeating NTPC's commitment to social welfare. He repeated NTPC's dedication to empowering the elderly and disabled through major CSR initiatives.

The beneficiaries were previously identified during a disability assessment camp that was arranged in February 2025 by the CSR team of NTPC Kaniha in cooperation with ALIMCO. A thorough evaluation of the beneficiaries was ensured by holding this camp in front of specialists and the Kaniha Block Social Welfare Officer.

NTPC Kaniha is firm in its dedication to community development and keeps up its numerous CSR projects that improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalized populations.
