IHG's voco hotel Brand Debuts First Silicon Valley Hotel in Sunnyvale

Voco Hotels Silicon Valley Debut - The Silicon Review

Stay Cal Hospitality opened voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale by IHG, the voco brand's first Silicon Valley property. The Silicon Review reports on the 51-room LEED Gold hotel serving tech travelers.

Stay Cal Hospitality has opened voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale by IHG, marking the debut of the voco brand in Silicon Valley. The 51-room property at 1101 Elko Drive in Sunnyvale is designed and built to LEED Gold standards, with a design concept rooted in nature and sustainability.

The voco hotels brand, launched by IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2018, has grown to more than 100 open hotels across 25 countries, with 95 additional properties in the pipeline. The brand is known for its flexible conversion model, allowing existing properties to rebrand with minimal upfront costs while benefiting from IHG's global platform.

The Ardez takes its name from a Romansh-speaking village in Switzerland's Lower Engadin valley, recognized for heritage preservation and sustainable tourism. The design combines Northern California craftsmanship with alpine-inspired elements, including a living moss wall in the lobby, a floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar, and an original commissioned art program with bird-themed murals.

Silicon Valley hotels have seen sustained demand from business travelers, technology professionals, and corporate groups. The property is positioned near major tech employers, San Jose International Airport, Levi's Stadium, and the Lawrence Caltrain Station.

The hotel's sustainability features align with voco brand standards: bedding made from 100 percent recycled materials, refillable bathroom amenities, glass water bottles, and aerated showerheads. Facilities include Verd'e restaurant and cocktail lounge, a library-inspired great room, a boardroom, a fitness center, and a Full Swing golf simulator suite.

Hiten Suraj, CEO of Stay Cal Hospitality, said the property has been a passion project, and designed to LEED Gold standards because "the way we build matters as much as what we build".

As IHG's voco brand debuts its first Silicon Valley hotel, The Silicon Review examines how the 51-room LEED Gold property serves the technology corridor's business travelers while bringing Swiss alpine design to California.
