Q. What motivated you to launch the company?

I created one of the most successful accelerators in Europe (GVA LaunchGurus). My students from my accelerator started to ask me if I could help them grow their companies like I recently did with Yva.ai. Yva is one of the top AI Employee Engagement companies. I understood that with growth-stage companies that companies need management expertise, operationally expertise, contacts, funding raising experience, sales, finance, and marketing.

Q. How successful was your most recent AI project before GSD?

My most recent project was Yva.ai which I started a little over three years ago. Yva.ai is beginning to dominate the employee engagement place and show that HR can have a tremendous impact on the way we look at our employees. Our goal with Yva.ai is to help the employees perform their best and the same time help companies created a better work environment that is more productive.

Q. What are your core strengths as an entrepreneur?

We have a great deal of experience; both my partner and I are experienced entrepreneurs with operational success. For too long, self-motivated entrepreneurs have navigated a minefield of challenges to launch a global company with very little support. The last thing you should bet on in this situation is an unproven team that you don’t trust. GSD Venture Studios travels the world inviting resilient teams to establish partnerships that ensure organizations grow the right way, without games or gimmicks. Unlike traditional investors, we take senior operational (often co-founder) roles in these companies, capitalizing on our trusted reputation, experiences and network to drive explosive growth.

Q. Artificial Intelligence is the buzzword. Do you think it is mandatory for companies (big or small) to embrace AI for performance efficiency?

It is going to be mandatory for every company to look at ways in which they can continue to innovate. They will need AI to keep their up competitiveness in this ever-changing market. There is so much data that makes it very difficult for companies that don’t have AI to make sense of it.

Q. What do you think is the future of AI?

AI is going to fundamentally transform the world and going to make our lives dramatically different than they are today; its potential is just being tapped now. We will probably have AI-enabled systems within our bodies that will be able to detect when something is wrong and in some situations correct them. These systems will also monitor our bodies from the outside. As our lives keep getting more and more complicated, AI devices will help us make sense of all of the happenings around us.

Q. Any company, big or small, must have a sense of authenticity and originality to succeed, is your company a leader or a follower?

We are a leader. We don’t talk about it. Our goal is to create an agile environment and to utilize customer discovery to help companies get it done. It is not about talking. It is about doing. That is why we call the company “Get Stuff Done” – GSD Venture Studios.

Q. Do you have a roadmap for your firm?

Our goal is to be the place where companies come when want to go global and realize their dreams. We want to be the number one creator of AI companies in the world. In 5-8 years, our goal is to produce several AI unicorns that have made a marked improvement in the way we live.

Gary Fowler is an award-winning senior-level executive with over 28 years of success in global strategic innovation leadership, sales, marketing, operational and investment management. He is the CEO and co-founder of the award-winning AI startup Yva.ai as well as the investment firm, DY Investments. Gary was involved in the management team of ClickSoftware that was recently sold for $1.35 billion dollars to SalesForce.
