The commotion about hyperautomation has been growing for a while, and hyperautomation technologies have become one of the most exciting trends in recent years. Many businesses were initially reluctant to implement automation when the technology first emerged because they were afraid of the change, the costs, and the job losses it may cause. But as technology develops and the tried-and-true advantages of integrating these developments in the corporate sector become clearer, businesses are shifting their operations toward creating intelligent, highly efficient, and people-centric workplaces. The necessity to adapt to the rapidly changing technological environment and the stringent need to keep up with the developments in the field constantly grows along with the dependence on technology and automation tools.

The difference between RUNMYBOT’s Hyper Automation and regular automation is that most companies have done what they could to address their simpler problems and automation needs, or what we call “day one” problems. The requirement then goes beyond simple automation needs, and companies become limited and stagnant with the current tools, technologies, and expertise. This is where Hyper Automation comes in, with the concept of providing a fully managed service to address those complex automation needs, making it a scalable solution. Globally, there are various companies delivering excellent hyperautomation services, but Actionfi stands out from the rest. Actionfi provides a Hyperautomation-as-a-Service platform named RUNMYBOT. It connects systems on-premise and on the cloud with specific integrations. The company makes sure that the integration meets the highest standards and fulfills the various specific requirements of its customers and partners. Maybe the best part of all, if you ask the customers, is that Actionfi provides this service as a fully managed offering.

In conversation with Joe Kuncharia, Founder & Chief Strategy Officer of Actionfi

Q. What was the motivation behind starting Actionfi?

We had already been providing integration solutions to many customers when we started working on RUNMYBOT as a Hyperautomation platform. During that time, we were building customized integrations for our customers to meet some specific requirements of theirs. Some needed help dealing with large volumes of data, some with their unstructured data, and still others had other needs, such as integrating some IoT devices into their ERP systems. The challenge was to create scalable integrations to meet these requirements without compromising system performance or acquiring technical debt. It was this background that led us to think about creating a cloud-based platform that fulfills all these requirements out of the box as part of a fully managed service.

Q. Although it would be great to turn on the computer and leave for the day, automated systems do require monitoring. How can we prevent potential technological failures?

This is also the reason why we have a Hyperautomation platform like RUNMYBOT. Its integration and automation capability manages itself and has fault tolerance built-in since the platform has to support data streaming from IoT devices to ERP systems. Our managed automation covers implementation, 24/7 monitoring, and upgrades for one single cost. This is because APIs and systems, especially ERP systems, go through upgrades, and there will be changes the integration will have to accommodate. Therefore, our managed services include those as well.

Q. Compliance is important for any organization. What are the measures you adopt to comply with regulations?

RUNMYBOT was built, from day one, to meet the strictest compliance standards. In fact, most of our original customers are financial services businesses, public entities, and life sciences companies. These organizations have systems that are either subject to validation requirements or operate under strict SOX controls. Because of these reasons, the integration is built to handle any compliance and audit requirements of our customers. Apart from audit logs and control mechanisms, we also provide an ‘Insight Report’ to not only improve customers’ processes but also to help their external auditors. The audit logs and control reports are built into the service, which our customers’ auditors often review. They usually approve the integrations and services we provide.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

We are redefining how to run cloud-to-cloud processes and how we should handle it when a business process touches multiple systems on the cloud. There is also a lot of work going on to make our platform support some of the IoT’s needs. While the platform already has AI and ML capabilities, we also continue to make investments to further enhance these capabilities.

Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

When the systems were on-premise, it was most appropriate for the in-house IT organization to manage integrations, as they knew what was going on and how the system worked, even though it might be physically hosted somewhere else. It was relatively easy to interconnect, and the internal resources knew how best to do it. Now, once some of the systems moved to the cloud and as customers themselves started relying on SaaS providers, we now see SaaS systems that need to be integrated with on-premise systems, which involves a lot of unknowns. This is why a lot of these SaaS providers work with us on a partner mode. We specialize in this area, and this is all we think about when we get up in the morning: how to provide a specific integration to fulfill a customer’s specific business requirements.

We see the future as a multiyear journey. As more and more systems move to the cloud and as communication becomes cloud-to-on-premise and then cloud-to-cloud, our expertise and services will become more and more relevant, and we are excited about the future.
