22 April, 2024

The partnership between Julius Baer and SCB was initiated in 2018

A 27-year veteran in the financial industry has been appointed as the chief executive officer of Julius Baer’s joint venture in Thailand. The joint venture, SCB Julius Baer, a collaboration between Julius Baer and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), has named Peerapong Jirasevijinda as its new CEO, as per an official statement. Jirasevijinda boasts extensive experience in financial investments spanning over 27 years, having previously served as the CEO of BBL Asset Management, a subsidiary of Bangkok Bank. He succeeds Lalitphat Toranavikrai, who will continue to serve as a board member of SCB Julius Baer. Toranavikrai, who joined SCB in 2008, brings a wealth of experience in wealth management, having previously worked with prominent institutions such as RBS Coutts and BNP Paribas.

Expressing his satisfaction with the appointment, Jimmy Lee, an executive board member of Julius Baer and head of Asia, as well as a board member of SCB Julius Baer, commended Toranavikrai for expanding the venture into Thailand's largest foreign private bank. The partnership between Julius Baer and SCB was initiated in 2018, aiming to leverage SCB’s local brand and expertise alongside Julius Baer’s wealth management solutions and advisory services. In 2020, the joint venture announced its ambition to capture a market share of 1 trillion Thai baht ($27 billion).
