AlphaCare has brought a new and superior option for the healthcare needs of the Coast. It has three centers conveniently located in Gulfport, Biloxi, and Ocean Springs that operate seven days a week.

AlphaCare was founded in 2018 by Dr. George Loukatos.

The Silicon Review contacted Dr. George Loukatos, who spoke about how AlphaCare Urgent Care is making a difference in this segment and plans to stay at the forefront. Below is an excerpt.

Q. AlphaCare Urgent Care is one of the promising healthcare companies that operate on the Gulf Coast of the United States. That said, where does the company stand at the moment relative to other participants in the industry?

While the Covid-19 pandemic has made success in the healthcare industry more challenging, AlphaCare Urgent Care has been able to turn those challenges into opportunities for customer acquisition and growth within the market. While our competitors struggle with staffing shortages, rising costs, and patient dissatisfaction due to crowding and delayed services, we have been able to provide timely care at a low cost and with a high degree of efficiency. We needed to dedicate our resources to making sure that the patient experience remains top-level. This has set us apart and led to a steady increase in patient volumes and the ability to rapidly expand within the market.

Q. What is AlphaCare’s point of differentiation?

From day one, our focus on our three foundational pillars of customer satisfaction, quality healthcare, and affordable health care has been the foundation of our success. Every process that we put in place has one of these founding principles at its roots.

Q. What can you tell us about the statement: “AlphaCare is changing the way healthcare is delivered on the Coast?”

I spent 18 years providing emergency medical care in several for-profit and not-for-profit facilities, not only as a practitioner but also as a director and administrator. As the individual charged with the oversight of quality, compliance, and patient satisfaction, I saw the many mistakes that organizations often make. I was also able to see what worked well for patients and what did not. When I founded AlphaCare, I truly intended to provide a superior product that was not available anywhere else in the market. Our mission was and still is to change the way healthcare is delivered in our community.

Q. What strategies are in place to ensure patients are provided with the best quality healthcare at an affordable price?

Our goal is to ensure that every patient receives the best product for the lowest possible cost. This means that we not only partner with insurers to provide reasonable rates but also offer a cash payment option that is all-inclusive and without surprises. For our customers with high-deductible insurance plans or for those who do not have health insurance, we provide lab testing, radiologic studies, and any procedures necessary for one fixed, affordable price. We have also dedicated a large amount of time and resources to developing vendor relationships that allow us to keep our overhead costs as low as possible.

Q. What are your other focus areas?

Providing exceptional healthcare to patients is our most important duty. This means, having the most highly trained, experienced, and compassionate providers at our facilities. We hire only those providers who we feel have the necessary skills and experience, but also the people skills to make our clients comfortable and confident with their healthcare plan. This same philosophy is used in the recruitment and retention of our ancillary staff as well. We know that having a happy staff translates into happy clients, so we focus on employee satisfaction as much as we take care of our patients.

Q. What new endeavors is AlphaCare currently undertaking?

Our success on the Mississippi Gulf Coast has allowed us to expand our footprint on a state level. We will start the construction soon in a neighboring state and we look forward to having our doors open in this new community by the winter of 2022.

Dr. George Loukatos | Founder

Dr. George Loukatos is the founder and owner of the AlphaCare Urgent Care network, serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was born and raised on the north shore of Boston and is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He obtained his doctorate of medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, and then completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Tulane University School of Medicine. While at Tulane, he served as the Chief Resident and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society, and was named ‘Intern of the Year of Charity Hospital in New Orleans.’ He began his career as an emergency medicine physician in 2003 and along the way served as medical director of multiple emergency departments as well as regional medical director in the state of Mississippi. While a practicing administrator, he was recognized with numerous clinical and administrative awards, including ‘Medical Director of the Year’ and ‘Regional Clinical Quality Champion.’ He founded AlphaCare Urgent Care in 2018 and has since been expanding this network of urgent care centers across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
