An Interview with Jonathan Zhang, Threat Intelligence Platform, LLC Founder and CEO: ‘We Provide Users with Easy-to-Use Tools and Detailed Information about Potential Threats’

TIP is a powerful online platform that provides effective cyber threat detection and analysis. The platform detects and prevents cybercrime by gathering detailed data about cyber-attacks and cyber-attackers, as well as general fraudulent online activities. Q. Why was the company set up? And how did you expand your company and its offerings over the years?

We set up Threat Intelligence Platform, LLC to provide easy to use threat intelligence tools and APIs as well as enable our customers to obtain accurate and up to date information about hosts. Our ultimate goal is to detect and prevent cyber threats before they have a chance of creating damage.

Q. What kind of responses have you received from your consumers over the years?

Our customers from my other company whoisxmlapi.com helped to shape the foundation and ideas of TIP. We are a customer driven company where we derive over half of our ideas for product features directly from customers.

Q. Building a culture of sustainability inside an organization is very important to maintain a reputation in the global market. How is it true for your company?

Sustainability is an important part of any company’s social policy and that is true for TIP as well. On that note, we are fortunate to have recognized this from the start and are now able to reap great benefits in the long run.

Q. A company’s behavior is as important as its economic performance or the quality of its products. How do you interpret this saying?

Companies today are held accountable by their consumers and the public in general by how they act socially. As such, their success no longer relies solely on an excellent product or marketing, but on its behavior as well.

Q. Is it true that striving for both ‘ethics and success’ in a business is a tough feat?

It is true, but we shouldn’t trade ethics for some short-term goal. In the long run, being ethical, knowing right from wrong and most importantly acting on it in a truthful manner is crucial for long-term business success.

Q. ‘Leaders cannot optimize results by themselves; they need employees’ support and assistance.’ How does your company interpret this saying?

Companies that rely on a strong authoritative figure perhaps have it easier when starting, but there are only so many hats that one can wear before the cracks start showing. The core of leadership abilities lies in being able to successfully delegate responsibilities to those under you. For this, a leader needs a group of people that will successfully bring his ideas to fruition.

Q. Trust is a difficult attribute to measure and a delicate dynamic to maintain. How do you maintain this with your employees?

For us, trust is really the starting point. Without it, no company can succeed or grow in the long run. This is a team effort after all. Honest communication is an important part of this and we always aim to have it that way with our employees. Another part of it, that’s important to us, is to help our employees develop new skills. Without them growing, the company can’t grow either.

Q. What do you feel are the reasons behind your company’s reputation?

TIP is still a relatively new company, having been established only a year ago. A lot of people haven’t heard about us yet. From those that have and had the opportunity to use our services, we’ve heard nothing but good things. We want to make sure they hold the same opinion in the future.

Q. Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

I see TIP as a trusted leader in the threat intelligence space. Of course, we understand this can’t happen overnight or even in a single year, but we are confident in our ability to get there in a few years.
