50 Innovative Companies to Watch 2019
The Silicon Review
“We undertake to solve some of the World’s pressing socioeconomic and environmental challenges by creating World-changing businesses that attract private impact investing capital at scale whilst operating in an ethical and responsible manner.”
Businesses across the world face new challenges. On the one hand, they have to deal with increasingly constrained resources – be it energy, land or materials – adding to price volatility of raw materials. On the other hand, they are faced with increasingly demanding customers and markets when it comes to sustainability. This poses the challenge to decouple growth from resource
use: A challenge that requires a new economic paradigm of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’. The concept
of a circular economy aims to present a solution to this challenge by combining revenue with social impact. It enables businesses to grow and prosper while keeping the environment and society intact, ensuring growth for themselves as well as future generations.
In light of the foregoing, we’re thrilled to present Pure CE (Circular Economy).
Pure CE is an advanced and ground-breaking 4th industrial revolution focussed private equity corporation, with a mission to identify and evolve conceptual ideas into globally changing businesses. Advocating the transition to a circular economy, Pure CE has brought together a world-class team of leading experts and practitioners with a strong focus on Biotech, Cleantech and Healthcare industries.
The company was incorporated in 2018 and is headquartered in Singapore.
Paul Gandy, Pure CE Managing Director, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

How successful was your first project roll on? Share the experience.
We have been working on a multitude of projects simultaneously since inception so, with a wide range of brands, services and technologies in the group, focusing on one, in particular, is quite difficult. Virtually everything we have accomplished to date, has to some degree, been a first of its kind – whether in regards to the development of a particular technology, such as our Rapid Petroleum Profiling tech, the application of a technology such as our waste to energy plasma tech, the location-based challenges associated with a first-of-its-kind service or technology such as legislation or market understanding; there have been a plethora of hurdles to overcome along the way. Thanks to a mixture of timing, strategy and a highly dynamic and adaptable team, we have not just overcome these hurdles, but accelerated both in terms of growth to date and future prospects, far beyond even our own predictions.
What kind of responses have you received from your consumers over the years? How have they motivated you to shape your offerings/grow the company?
We are very pleased to report that given the topical relevance and positive impact our various lines of business bring to people, planet and profit, we have enjoyed an incredibly positive, flexible and engaged attitude from the communities, policymakers, and corporate entities we have thus far come into contact with. We believe that this comes down to one very simple idea: when you are working towards goals that are intrinsically good, people don’t just want to see you succeed; they want to help and ultimately be a part of the story.
“Earning trust and respect of consumers all around the world is through consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of our actions.” How do you interpret this statement?
We undertake to solve some of the world’s pressing socioeconomic and environmental challenges by creating world-changing businesses that attract private impact investing capital at scale whilst operating in an ethical and responsible manner.
Every business has an impact on society by the way they deliver their products and services. Pure CE is no different. We ensure our corporate core values are firmly connected to our corporate social responsibility which resonate with our employees and partners. Connecting our corporate values to our brands, products, services, clients and marketing messages are how we ensure trust and respect is garnered and grown. From top to bottom, this has to be an authentic endeavor.
To that end, our people are recognized as leaders and entrepreneurs in the spaces within which we operate, and many of them are passionate about shaping the world and making a positive contribution to society. We consist of diverse teams and highly motivated people who are collaborative and focused on delivering value for our stakeholders and businesses. We pride ourselves on building and sharing expertise in order to strengthen the communities where we operate and are deeply committed to by building sustainable business practices, environments and workplaces.
We have a purpose to meet stakeholders’ needs in many ways: by producing goods and services that improve the lives of users; by providing jobs and enhancing workers’ quality of life; by developing a strong network of suppliers and business partners; and by ensuring financial viability, which provides resources for improvements, innovations, and returns to investors.
Our values are part of our DNA. They guide the way we work with our business partners, within our communities, and with each other.
How does your company contribute to the competitive global IT platform at large?
A technological advance can impact — even transform — the global economy let alone a particular sector. The steam engine in the first industrial revolution, electricity in the second, and internet technology in the third fundamentally changed human history. Today, big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have the same transformative potential in what has become known as ‘the fourth industrial revolution’.
Pure CE develops technology that is about processing information, capturing data, developing and validating models in real-time for optimal performance. As with all of our endeavors, we not only intend to act at the forefront of technological progress but also to be the very best.
Do you have any new products ready to be launched?
We have a number of new brands, products and services scheduled to be rolled out over the next 12 months; however, we would like to keep these as a surprise! For now, we can confirm that in true Pure CE form, they will be first of their kind, sustainability-focused, commercially viable solutions to real-world problems.
Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?
We are due to list on the Singapore Stock Exchange this year, beyond that, we plan to have three separate Purecog branded sustainable technology hub’s operational across the United Arab Emirates within 12 months; One focused on the manufacturing of an environmentally friendly single-use plastic alternative,
one focused on turning waste plastic back into oil, diesel and biofuel and one focused on turning medical waste into usable energy. Around these, we will build educational and research programs for schools and universities as well as visitor experiences for anyone who has an interest in the evermore topical subject of sustainability.
With regards to our RPP (Rapid Petroleum Profiling) technology, we will have finished development and adaptation of the units for a multitude of different applications across the Oil and Gas sector and will have rolled these units out across thousands of well-heads.
For our residential property review site, Mintaga, our goal is to be operational and working with key partners in every corner of the MENA region within 12 months, globally thereafter.
