Alopecia is a common disorder affecting more than half of the population worldwide. Androgenetic alopecia, the most common type, affects 50 percent of males over the age of 40 and 75 percent of females over 65, a study reveals.
Laser hair growth treatment, also known as Laser Phototherapy (LPT), the most powerful and effective treatment for hair loss, is exploding on the market with the introduction of Theradome Inc. With its world-class advanced laser hair growth technology, the FDA-cleared Theradome LH80 PRO is recommended by four out of five hair loss experts such as Bosley, Hair Club and other prominent medical clinics and high-end salons from all around the world. Multiple clinical trials prove that this powerful Theradome helmet is one of the safest and most effective hair loss treatments available.
Theradome Inc. was incorporated in 2009 and is headquartered in Pleasanton, California.
Tamim Hamid, Theradome Inc. CEO/Inventor, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.
Why was the company set up? How successful was your first project roll on? Share the experience.
We want to help people with their hair loss issue, by bringing the world’s most technologically advanced Laser Phototherapy products to market. Bringing an idea or product to life is extremely difficult in our space since there are so many factors such as regulatory approvals, software and hardware integrations and making sure the device is safe to use. We strongly believe in rapid prototyping of products and testing them out quickly and get feedback before creating a final version. This type of concurrent engineering reduces the time to market but also makes sure that the user experience is maximized.
The ability to continually grow a business requires amazing attention to detail for all components of the business. We continue to implement tools and processes to monitor areas of the business so we can see where we need more resources and where we are committing too many resources.
What challenges did you face in your initial years?
For a company to be successful you have to have a good product, good processes, good tools, and great people. In our case finding great people has been the biggest challenge. As the company continues to grow, so does the requirement to maintain high standards in the types of people we hire. We are very selective about who can join our team and spare no effort in hiring the right people.
What were the grounds on which you have expanded your company and its offerings over the years?
We’ve been experiencing amazing growth due to the awareness of beauty and aesthetic related products brought to the home. Our at-home product – a medical device, a hi-tech gadget, a beauty product, or a wearable device – fits in with the majority of the world lifestyle. This phenomenon of people wanting to look and feel better applies to almost every country around the world. We continue to innovate and develop more affordable devices to service more of the market.
Our vision is to make our product available to every man and woman who is experiencing hair loss as we feel that our product will be as ubiquitous as a hair dryer in the near future.
What do you feel are the reasons behind your consistent growth as an organization?
Putting real automation in place to optimize operations is one of the main reasons why we stand out from the competition. We are almost 90 percent automated. No one in our company touches our product and we don’t have one single filing cabinet. We’re completely in the cloud. The goal for the team is to operate with minimal errors, fast turnaround, and be amazingly efficient.
What causes conflicts between employees in an organization, and how do you take precautions against conflicts?
Proper matching of characters and personality is very crucial in designing a team that must work together. There are two basic attributes that each person must inherently have which are: Trust and Competence. Some people can work well with constant interaction with their team members while others perform much better on their own and only interact as and when needed.
How do you and your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?
We are a fully SaaS-based company. We strongly believe in distributed IT platforms that work on all platforms such as mobile, desktop, tablet, and servers.
Do you have any new products ready to be rolled out into the market?
We have many exciting new products coming in Q3 and Q4 and we’re thrilled to introduce these to the world.
Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?
We will be in the overwhelming majority of countries in the world with our products in the coming years. We will continue to broaden the market of those who can afford our powerful technology, and we will continue to improve people’s confidence about their hair loss journey.
