R2 Logistics operates as a third-party logistics company that provides transportation services and logistics solutions in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. R2 offers full truckload transportation, less-than-truckload, expedited freight, intermodal, certified hazardous material, specialized hauling, and supply chain management services.

The company offers its services through a network of branch offices/locations in Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas and Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Detroit, Michigan; Jacksonville, Florida; Los Angeles, California; Nashville, Tennessee; and Phoenix, Arizona.

R2 serves customers in various market segments ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small family-owned businesses operating in food and beverage, construction, auto and steel, plastics and rubber, paper and packaging, retail and consumer, lawn and garden, and healthcare.

The company was incorporated in 2007 and is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.

Frank Dreischarf, R2 Logistics VP of Supply Chain Solutions, spoke exclusively to The Silicon review. Below is an excerpt.

Why was the company set up? And how did you expand your company and its offerings over the years?

R2 was founded with the mission of providing the highest level of service possible to our customers. We began by servicing Tier-1 automotive suppliers as an expedite and emergency carrier. We have expanded our business over the years from a truckload 3pl to a full-service 3pl servicing all modes in order to service and add value to our customers.

How do you keep your company up and running?

We focus heavily on our customers and spend a lot of time learning about their needs and demands. That’s how we keep our company up and running.

From an employee perspective, we focus a lot on recognition, developing our people and continuous training. This helps us to service the customer and maintain our competitive, customer-centric culture.

How do you maintain your customers’ trust and loyalty?

We pride ourselves on our ability to service the customer and develop solutions when others can’t. We aren’t ever going to risk that reputation by not keeping our word.

Two-way communication is most effective, and employees need to feel they have an outlet for sharing their observations and ideas. How does this idea come to life at R2?

Our office culture is innovative and energetic, and everyone periodically rolls up their sleeves to help co-workers when needed, regardless of their titles. We are looking for employees who share a similar sense of purpose as it is imperative to surround yourself with great teams—both at work and at home. Having teams that you can rely on allows you to maximize your time, your efforts, and your quality output.

How does your company contribute to the competitive global IT platform at large?

We have developed our proprietary Transportation Management System from a shipper’s perspective. That means we excel at the data aggregation, reporting and execution functionalities. Our reporting platforms are available on any device, including mobile, and our system functionality is very intuitive and easy to use.

Do you have any new products ready to be launched?

We recently launched our interactive mobile data reporting platform. The platform allows companies to access cost and service data from any device anywhere. It is a leading edge technology and our customers love the functionality.

As a question on sustainability, where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

We are growing rapidly. Considering that, we will continue to lead from a customer service and execution standpoint.

Frank Dreischarf: VP of Supply Chain Solutions

Frank Dreischarf is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he dual majored in Operations Management as well as Transportation and Logistics. He started with R2 Logistics in 2017 when he filled the role of Vice President of Supply Chain Solutions. Frank has 20 plus years of distribution and supply chain experience and has spent the last 10 years managing $200 million plus transportation spends.

In his current role, Frank is responsible for developing and managing R2’s multi-modal and Supply Chain service offerings such as LTL, Reverse Logistics, inbound Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution, Intermodal and Final Mile Delivery.
