Biolab Sciences Inc., an innovator in regenerative medicine technologies, researches new ways and medicines for body healing and cell regeneration. Through its products and patents, BioLab is expanding the human body’s ability to regenerate by developing and manufacturing human cell and tissue therapies as an alternative to invasive, painful and expensive treatment protocols.

The company was founded in 2018 and is based in Scottsdale, Arizona (shifting to Phoenix, Arizona, by December 1, 2021).

Interview Excerpt: Bob Maguire

Q. What inspired you to start BioLab Sciences Inc.?

I had been in a rollover accident in 2013 that got me inwardly questioning if I was doing enough to help other human beings. The answer to my inner questioning was that I was not doing anything to help other people, which started me down the path of regenerative medicine. I had founded a previous biologics company that I was pushed out of, and I filed the incorporation for BioLab Sciences just 21 days later by me and my business partner, Jaime Leija, Chief Commercialization Officer.

You can knock me down, but I will continue to get up. You can’t beat someone who never quits, ever!

Q. Was there any prior experience that led to the establishment of the company?

I had no previous experience or credentials in the medical field. Still, after eight years in regenerative medicine and biotechnology, I feel well equipped to carry my own against most scientists and doctors in biologics, wound care, and orthopedics.

Brief us about the journey so far.

It has been an interesting journey. In the beginning, I ran into the naysayers that said that I couldn’t do this because of this reason and that reason. I did not listen to them, and now they are the same people saying that they knew that I would be successful, or they are now asking for jobs. While I have the vision for what we do, I have also learned that I need to be surrounded by great people to execute the vision. I believe in the saying, “Bury them with success and kill them with a smile!”

Delineate a short overview of the services your company offer.

We currently have three products that we offer and are looking to add additional products to the BioLab Sciences technology platform. We are currently focused on wound care and orthopedics but we are looking to expand our offerings.

Q. You’re researching heavily to address orthopedic injuries, wound care, pain management, aesthetic medicine, respiratory ailments, cardiovascular indications, ophthalmic issues, and more. How uniquely do you address your customers’ pain points per this?

Well, we research the technologies to create positive outcomes for patients, but it is the doctors who perform the procedures while using our products that create positive outcomes for the patients.

Q. Your mission is to provide reliable, safe products with the highest quality to optimize body performance through continuous innovation, education, superior customer service, and teamwork. How do you interpret this statement further?

Our focus is to create positive outcomes for patients to improve the quality of their lives.

Q. What are the key factors that determine your company’s success? Share an overview.

The key factor that determines our company’s success is our people. We have been so fortunate to recruit the best people who are passionate about our mission. We have a great company culture because we hire smart people that know what they are doing, and we get out of their way and let them do their job.

Q. Where do you stand as a company in the current market landscape?

We are growing rapidly because we listen to our customers, who are our distributors, and do what we can to make sure that we are easy to work with. We do not have any direct salespeople, so we don’t compete with our distributors. Our goal is to train and equip our distributors to be successful because our success is tied to their success.

Q. And what are you doing to stay ahead of the curve?

For this, we are evaluating new technologies to be offered by our distributors to the end-user, which can be a hospital, a surgery center, or a private practice.

Q. Briefly walk us through your plans. Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

I see us with a dozen or so offerings, and while we are currently just serving the United States markets, we are now in the process of expanding globally.
