“We encourage each team member to share any new and creative ideas they come up with, spurred by their outside research and reverse engineering.”

For attorneys and law firms, SEO is a crucial strategy that can attract new clients online. Your potential clients are likely using search engines to find law firms, so neglecting SEO means you could be losing business.

In light of the foregoing, we’re thrilled to present BluShark Digital LLC — a digital marketing agency focused on the legal sector but that recently started expanding into other sectors including architecture, non-profits, and the medical field.

The company was incorporated in 2016 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Seth Price, BluShark Digital LLC Founder and CEO, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

Q. Is online presence an integral part of a marketing campaign? How can a law firm choose the right advertising avenue?

Yes, an online presence is an integral part of any marketing campaign today. It’s important to maintain your brand consistently across platforms. This will reinforce your brand and communicate its value to your audience.

Many customers seeking a lawyer carry out an online search on Google first, so it’s crucial to be sure law firms analyze their marketing data. This data can show their customers are finding them so the firm can better understand how to market to prospective clients.

Essentially, your marketing efforts should revolve around how your customers have been locating you. Later, expand to other channels.

Q. Law firms trying to compete in this highly competitive market usually find themselves facing a dilemma with their digital marketing campaign. How do you help them find the right tool that they can use and focus on?

In highly competitive markets, it can be much tougher to appear in the 3-pack. In some cases, paid search is the easiest answer. Although this isn’t cheap, a single click on a highly competitive keyword can be worthwhile. Paying for ads in combination with organic rankings can help boost where you rank in a Google search naturally. Additionally, having high-quality website content with the right keywords and accurate citations on local directories can be a tremendous help in highly competitive markets.

Q. Tell us about your content development. What are the factors that will contribute to the engagement level?

We have a team that works specifically on content for all of our clients’ sites. The content team is creative and passionate about their writing. Many of our clients feel very strongly about their “brand voice” remaining consistent across their website pages and platforms. Our content team ensures that they consider this when writing and editing each page of content. The team also is very strategic about the keywords they use and the silo structure of each website, ensuring it is fully optimized and will be easy for the Google Bot to crawl. We encourage each content team member to share any new and creative ideas they come up with, spurred by their outside research and reverse engineering.

Q. Growing the company based on employees’ passions must be the priority. Do you ask your employees what they are interested in doing and how they would like to see their career unfold?

You don’t grow a company based on your employees’ passions. When it comes to SEO, you look for people who are passionate, hard-working, and interested in learning new things. Then you help them become passionate about their role within the company. We have found that not many people are initially passionate about specific aspects of their job, but that’s largely because it’s a new idea to many when they start working at BluShark. The fact that all of our employees enjoy learning new things and trying out new ideas is why they were hired. Additionally, we are always open to listening to new ideas our employees have and letting them move forward with those if we agree on it. We prioritize making opportunities for advancement available within the company to our employees who work hard and show they are passionate about the agency.

Q. A good workplace stresses teamwork while still encouraging individual achievement and creativity. Does your company follow the same strategy?

Yes, BluShark follows this strategy. BluShark encourages individual achievement in many ways. For example, on our community development team, every Friday we have a competition for who created “the best link” for their client. Everyone submits a link and then each person on the team votes for which they think is the most impressive. The winner receives a small prize. As far as encouraging teamwork, if one employee is absent one day, the rest of the team always willingly steps up and divides up that person’s tasks amongst themselves without any hesitation or complaints.

Q. Trust is a difficult attribute to measure and a delicate dynamic to maintain. How do you maintain this with your employees?

BluShark shows they trust their employees by offering them more responsibilities. When employees can handle the additional tasks, then they are rewarded with more freedom and trust to complete these and other projects in the future. For example, once a manager has seen that one of their employees can do something two or three times without needing to check the work, then the employee is trusted to complete the task without a manager’s check.

Q. What does the future hold for BluShark Digital and its employees? Are exciting things on the way?

The future is bright for BluShark Digital. Even though we are only about five years old, we are rapidly growing regarding client intakes and employees. We expect to continue this rapid growth over the next few years. While the majority of our clients have been law firms thus far, we are excited to announce that we are expanding into other sectors such as architecture, non-profits, and the medical field. BluShark is excited to offer its SEO services to these new fields, try new projects that fit their industries and expand our offerings.
