Scott Brandon, The Brandon Agency CEO, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

Q. Why is marketing critical for a business, and what impact does it create on the company?

A well-defined marketing strategy is critical because it leads to an increase in sales and revenue  and helps a company meet its business objectives and overcome challenges. Ultimately, the impact of marketing can be the difference between success and failure.

Q. Well-strategized marketing will help the company build trust with consumers, potential clients, and customers. How do you create a roadmap/campaign that will meet the clients’ demand?

You must first dive deep and thoroughly understand the company and its brand, goals, challenges, customers, competition, and know how success will be measured. Once you define these elements, you can develop insights and strategies and start developing the marketing tactics that will deliver results.

Q. It isn’t easy to achieve success in every marketing campaign that is developed. How do you overcome failures?

You have to learn and react quickly. When something is not working, you have to dig in and figure out why and make adjustments. One of the most important aspects of a successful marketing program is constant optimization. This is how you can ensure that you are able to deliver a strong ROI.

Q. How do you manage to understand the culture of the company before devising a marketing campaign?

We spend the necessary time to listen, ask questions, observe, review data, and conduct quantitative and qualitative research to truly understand a company and its business challenges.

Q. How do you maintain a strong relationship with your clients?

Setting clear expectations, strong communication, transparency, and collaboration are key to strong relationships. We believe that our team is an extension of our clients’ teams, and ultimately, their success is our success.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

With the heightened push on direct-to-consumer, we have beefed up our talent in the paid digital media, development, SEO, and analytics teams. We have also incubated a specialized Amazon marketing team within the agency to help our clients increase sales in this channel. On the B2B side, we are working on honing our knowledge and skills to better assist our clients in leveraging their CRM tools. Therefore, we are becoming experts at using Salesforce, Pardot, etc.

Q. What are your trajectories for the next five years?

Technology continues to be the driver of change in the industry. Not only the technology available to us as marketers with AI and predictive capabilities but technology available to consumers and how their use of technology impacts how they consume media. The digital commerce channels will continue to expand, and we are focused on growing our expertise to address these changes.

The Leader at the Helm of The Brandon Agency

The Brandon Agency was founded in Myrtle Beach by Cecil Brandon. Cecil was a highly creative visionary and was before his time helping turn Myrtle Beach into one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. When his son Scott Brandon joined the agency in 1993, he quickly began adding core competencies and services, including web development, public relations, organic social media, SEO, and analytics. Currently, Scott serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Brandon Agency. The agency made a bold move in 2004, opening an office in Charleston, SC, and moving its headquarters there. Through key acquisitions in 2013, 2014, and 2015, The Brandon Agency acquired expertise and clients in the B2B, CPG, travel sectors, and a key office in Charlotte, NC. The growth and geographic expansion have helped the agency become one of the Southeast’s largest independent agencies.
