CrashPlan helps organizations recover from any worst-case scenario, whether it is a disaster, simple human error, a stolen laptop, ransomware or an as-of-yet undiscovered calamity. It continues to innovate as the landscape of work evolves, which makes CrashPlan foundational to organizations’ data security. What starts as endpoint backup and recovery becomes a solution for ransomware recovery, breaches, migrations, and legal holds. CrashPlan protects more than 50,000 world-class organizations, including the largest global brands.

CrashPlan’s straightforward, comprehensive, and reliable backup solution has been a staple in the IT community and trusted by technology leaders for more than 15 years. A decade might as well be a century in modern technology-climate, and its continued success stems from its singular focus: It provides the best endpoint backup on the planet.

Comprehensive and reliable backup solutions

Ransomware Recovery: Globally, 37% of organizations fell victim to ransomware in 2021. By 2031, ransomware is expected to cost businesses US $265B annually. CrashPlan helps you bounce back following an incident without extended downtime or incentivizing cybercrime. No matter how often files get versioned by the malware or how they’re ransomed, CrashPlan offers continuous protection with immutable backups and unlimited versioning as a robust defense against ransomware. Plus, quick recovery of mission-critical files means never paying a ransom. With organization definable file includes/excludes and support for Microsoft USMT,  CrashPlan can restore all critical user data to an imaged machine precisely as before infection (permissions, desktop background, and all).

Once you identify the restore point, CrashPlan will restore your users’ most recently updated files first so that they can get back up and running immediately. Backups of new and changed files happen every fifteen minutes without the need for human interaction. Plus, customizable unlimited version retention means that even if an infection isn’t discovered immediately, it’s always possible to return to a known-good state. All data stored in the CrashPlan cloud is encrypted and stored per device. This means that even if one endpoint in your organization is infected, it doesn’t impact the data for other devices (either by potentially spreading the infection or causing a restore bottleneck due to global deduplication).

Device Migration: Companies replace 25-30% of their device fleet each year, on average. They all know the pains of these inevitable device migrations. Whether it’s a planned upgrade or the unexpected result of a lost, stolen, corrupted, or failed device — IT often has to stop important work and spend hours manually backing up and transferring users’ files. CrashPlan’s Device Migration solution cuts down on troubleshooting, decreases user downtime, and reduces the risk of transfer errors. CrashPlan completely revamps the device replacement process, saving your organization time and money, avoiding the risk of data loss, and getting your users back up and running quickly after a device migration — planned or unplanned.

CrashPlan’s simple and intuitive self-service workflow makes it practical to enable a user-driven device migration process even when working fully remote. This greatly reduces IT burden and costs, while empowering users with greater control over when and where to migrate. No one plans to spill on, drop or lose a device — and hardware failures can happen when you least expect them. With CrashPlan, you’re ready for the unexpected device disaster, because CrashPlan automatically backs up all files every 15 minutes.

Legal Hold: Time is imperative when dealing with or expecting legal action. Legal and IT teams must be able to comply and preserve electronically stored information (ESI) across the organization — fast. Legal holds usually mean corporate panic. After all, 70% of business data is unstructured and almost half of all data is distributed across company laptops. Not with CrashPlan at your back. CrashPlan protects your organization from spoliation sanctions, fines, and adverse inferences with a strong legal hold software solution. Scenario-specific preservation policies allow legal and IT teams to preserve exactly the files and versions which a given legal matter dictates. Because legal hold is an extension of CrashPlan’s core backup capabilities, data contained in users’ standard file selection will also be included among versions available after the user is placed on hold; even deleted files.

Rather than being stuck with a single version of files as they existed at the point of confiscation, CrashPlan automatically collects regular updates to files on custodians’ devices. This means end-users are able to maintain productivity and Legal has better visibility into file activity over time rather than at one instant. Because CrashPlan is constantly monitoring file-activity for changes and collecting data from the source machine, it’s possible to provide a reasonable chain-of-custody to the court. Plus, data access and preservation policy changes are logged and auditable in-program. CrashPlan has granular roles and permissions which govern access to the legal hold interface. Access is easily defined manually or by group membership within your directory service.
