“Above all, we care about delivering an outcome that our clients will derive real business value from.”

Digiterre is an award-winning software and data engineering consultancy. For 23 years, it has helped global organisations change and transform their businesses by building and delivering high-value, custom-built technology.

Ian Murrin, founder and CEO, established the company in 2000 with the intention of improving the quality of business software he was personally using. His goal was to create software that people wanted, needed and enjoyed using.

Widely recognised for its work with clients in the financial services, energy, and commodities sectors, Digiterre solves some of the most complex and important industry problems.

The company is headquartered in London.

The Silicon Review reached out to Mr. Murrin, and here’s his response.

Interview Highlights

Q. Can you explain your services in brief?

Our software engineering service expertise lies in building custom software solutions in a pragmatic, agile way with a relentless focus on business value and working collaboratively with our clients.

The services we provide cover the entire software delivery lifecycle, from strategy to delivery, resourcing, and support.

We provide technology advisory services, modernisation and automation of legacy systems into efficient, scalable, and future-ready solutions, and build a data architecture to automate the data lifecycle, from ingestion and validation to enrichment to real-time analytics and reporting.

Through modernisation, our clients can streamline their processes, improve performance, and enhance user experiences. In a rapidly changing digital landscape, we help clients stay competitive, achieve measurable gains in agility, and accelerate time to market and growth.

Importantly, Digiterre enables technological and organisational change for many of the world’s leading organisations, including banks and insurers, energy and commodities traders, investment managers, exchanges, clearing houses and brokers.

Building and supporting high-demand, data-rich products and platforms for organisations that operate within highly regulated environments is our area of expertise. We are passionate about exploring opportunities and solving problems that are critical to organisational competitiveness.

One of the biggest barriers to businesses when it comes to investing in any kind of technology is the cost. Tell us about the affordability of your solutions.

In September 2023, Digiterre became part of the Collabera Digital group of companies. As an autonomous business unit, we continue to provide the same high-quality services to our clients in energy and commodities trading and the financial services sector, now with the ability to scale and resource projects using nearshore and offshore teams, lowering the total project cost.

Q. How do you monitor the performance of the solution? What guidance and direction did you find most effective to train individuals to use your solution?

We work collaboratively, pragmatically, and efficiently, ensuring that we fully understand our clients’ needs as they evolve throughout the development lifecycle. In addition, we use modern tools, methodologies, and technologies to enable us to collaborate closely with in-house experts and their end users to maximise the benefits to all
involved. We share our know-how openly, with a view to leaving each client engagement in a better state than when we first joined the team. We hire people with open and agile minds who are willing and able to challenge perceived wisdom and have a bias for action.

Q. There are other entities in this segment. How do you differentiate yourself?

Unlike many competitors, our teams comprise domain-specific experts, all of whom are highly skilled technologists who take ownership of client problems. It is this combination, together with our agile ways of working, that allows us to deliver high-risk, high-profile, and typically time-constrained projects faster and with more certainty than our competitors.

We thrive on working to tight deadlines. Above all, we care about delivering an outcome that our clients will derive real business value from.

Q. How do you source the right talent to maintain the quality of your services?

Our rigorous recruitment process ensures we only hire the best. We seek out those with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities and a pragmatic approach to meeting client needs. Above all, we value commitment, responsibility, and ownership. It is this drive within every one of our people that delivers successful outcomes time and time again.

Q. How do you market your services?

Clients learn about our services in a variety of ways, including recommendations and word-of-mouth, our website and thought leadership content, and the industry events we attend and speak at. More importantly, the cornerstone of our strategy is dedicated to ensuring client satisfaction, and we are proud that our clients rely on Digiterre to address their evolving challenges as they transition into different roles within the industry.

Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

With the news of Collabera Digital’s acquisition of Digiterre, we are excited for the future and the opportunities for providing new services using next-generation technologies, such as AI, to deliver even more value to our clients’ organisations.
