Vincent M. Tome, CEO of D&V Customs LLC, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review about how his company is bring its clients vision to life with custom home renovations in South Florida.

Interview Highlights

Please provide a summary of the events that led to the founding of D&V Customs LLC.

I was a former collegiate and professional athlete and created a fictional brand as a final college project in 2013 for a course called Principles of Management. The name of the brand was D&V Customs. I even knew in 2013 that I would eventually partner with my father, Dennis, who at the time operated Trinity Carpentry.

Setbacks are a part of every growing business. Tell us about a few roadblocks and learning lessons that helped D&V Customs grow through the years.

The biggest roadblock to our business growth was the first five years without efforts towards automating our fabrication process. One process we automated is edge banding. For years, we were forced to apply veneer or PVC edge banding manually by hand on an automatic edge banding machine. This is much too time-consuming and limits the volume of work we can complete. 90% of our work consists of applying a wood veneer or PVC edge banding to the edges of shelves, doors, and any other finished casework components. Another crucial setback we face is time constraints in luxury condominiums. Many buildings shut down completely and do not allow work for many months during the time of the year when many tourists are in town visiting. Other buildings will stay open and still shut down for a few weeks during the holidays, which is manageable.

Q. Can you introduce us to your services? What are their key features?

Our services include everything from basic remodeling, designing, and manufacturing cabinets to trim installation and custom millwork. We offer a wide variety of luxurious packages, standard packages, and lower-tiered renovation upgrade packages. We are dedicated to customer satisfaction and delivering perfect cabinet designs that make the most of any space. Our key features include our signature embedded closet system, high-quality materials, design expertise, and cutting-edge hardware to assist in transforming any room into an improved and beautiful space.

Q. Can you provide us with one or two success stories describing the challenges your clients faced and how D&V Customs helped them overcome those challenges?

The story I am about to tell is my favorite way to describe how making other people’s dreams come true is really where the magic happens. My clients, Lynn and Marv, searched for years for someone who could design a display wall worthy enough to display their artifacts and collectibles from Africa. Never in my life have I witnessed a customer more ecstatic when it was all said and done. She loved the piece so much that we ended up remodeling her walk-in closet and building her a new luxurious L-shaped desk for their home office! Return customers happen often!

Q. Tell us about the D&V Customs team. What value do they bring to the company?

We recently won an award in the 2023 Build Architecture Awards for Best Custom Closet and Cabinet Company in Southern Florida! I believe wholeheartedly that the team we have in place right now is every bit to thank for that title. Our guys bring valuable knowledge, skills, and experience to the company. We have over 100 years of combined experience, and there is no project we cannot tackle, commercial or residential.

Q. What new endeavors is D&V Customs currently undertaking?

The most important future endeavor we are working on is building our new manufacturing facility from the ground up. We are growing larger every day; we’ve quickly outgrown our current location, and we are pursuing land purchase opportunities to build a large facility.

Q. What’s the one thing you want D&V Customs to be known for?

I am working on our own custom-branded catalog so that we can become a household name as a branded line of cabinets. Once we have our catalog and systems down, we will franchise other locations across the nation, and the brand will sweep up the market.

Vincent M. Tome | CEO

Vincent M. Tome is an American Designer and Entrepreneur born in Royal Oak, Michigan. He played collegiate DII baseball for Florida Christian College and signed an Independent Professional contract in the Florida Winter Baseball League for the Collier County Loggerheads in Pompano Beach, FL, in 2014 (Florida Christian College was then bought out by Johnson University Florida, the baseball program was cancelled, and the stats were removed from the web). He also competed in the NCCAA D-II World Series in Mason, Ohio. Vince’s design expertise has led to more than just scaling a cabinet company. He also designs and sells his own branded timepieces. The brand is called Vincenzo Collection. The brand was seen in a television commercial shot by the original shark from Shark Tank and founder of the As Seen on TV Infomercial, Kevin Harrington. For the rest of time, Vincenzo Collection can say they have been endorsed by a Shark!
