The Silicon Review
Industrial IoT (IIoT) brings machines, cloud computing, analytics, and people together to improve the performance and productivity of industrial processes. With IIoT, industrial companies can digitize processes, transform business models, and improve performance and productivity, while decreasing waste. These asset intensive companies operating in a range of industries such as manufacturing, energy, agriculture, transportation and utilities, are working on IoT projects that connect billions of devices and deliver value across a variety of use cases including predictive quality and maintenance analytics, asset condition monitoring, and process optimization. A typical industrial facility has thousands of sensors generating data. With IIoT, manufacturers, for example, can combine machine data from a single line, factory, or a network of sites, such as manufacturing plants, assembly facilities, and refineries, to proactively improve performance by identifying potential bottlenecks, failures, gaps in production processes, and quality issues before they happen. Combining data from a network of sites can also result in a more efficient control of material flow, early detection and identification and elimination of production or supply bottlenecks, and the optimized operation of machinery and equipment in all facilities. DataRemote, Inc. has consistently been at the forefront of the IoT Industrial market space since 1991, offering businesses and channel partners IoT Products, Cellular Modems, Routers, and other Radio Appliances for moving data over wireless.
DataRemote specializes in IoT wireless solutions enabling clients across various verticals to reduce cost and gain better visibility and reporting of legacy equipment. DataRemote’s POTS IN A BOX solution is an enterprise-grade LTE router and IP appliance that directly replaces wireline Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) lines including the capability for transmission of FAX, fire panel, burglar alarm, analog modem data, ring-down, voice & emergency lines, with full access to E-911. DataRemote® offers a comprehensive suite of flexible Cloud-based features that can increase productivity at every business level for Enterprise. Manage all services and Group/User features from customer facing, web-based user portals. DataRemote delivers outstanding voice quality and reliability through network by housing server stacks in diverse, geo-redundant data centers. The Utility world of today relies on increasingly complex communications solutions to operate efficiently and safely. Utilities depend upon timely information for command and control of their various networks including (but not limited to) generation (or production) transmission, distribution, quality, reliability, safety, load balancing, billing, outage notification and restoration. These requirements for information span electric, gas, water, wastewater, storm water, irrigation, steam, pipelines systems and other associated industries within the vertical generally referred to as “Utilities”.
Specialized Environments
DataRemote keenly understands the unique requirements for reliability, accuracy and failover as well as the financial implications of maintaining equipment over long periods of installed operation and life. Faced with technology upgrade requirements, Utilities must often juggle the availability of suitable mediums for carrying information within the installed technology. Legacy equipment often has long life cycles due to regulatory requirements for capitalization, amortization and rate base recovery. Additionally, installed equipment cannot be easily changed due to the in-service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operational requirements demanded by the very nature of the business. DataRemote has pioneered the ability to interface legacy command and control protocols with the state of the art technologies available. The concept of Smart Grid and the Utility centric Internet of Things (IoT) world have brought increased abilities to drive production, transmission, distribution and quality to new levels of efficiency. Coupled with the increased safety and reliability created by faster and more diverse communications networks, utilities today are able to deliver more with less. DataRemote offers a full line of Utility grade cellular and radio communications solutions to meet the requirements of the industry.
Command and Control
Utilities increasingly rely on Supervisory Control and Data Accusation (SCADA) networks to view, operate, command and control the various disparate systems necessary to deliver electricity, gas, water and steam and petroleum to industry, commercial enterprises and consumers. SCADA generally refers to any centralized system engaged in monitoring or controlling various networks involved in all aspects of production, delivery, safety and quality and use of a commodity. The ability to control entire sites, complexes or networks of various systems is the basis for SCADA. Many control functions can be automated. But, SCADA also provides for direct control of these systems when human intervention is necessary or critical. DataRemote understands the critical nature of these systems and has engineered solution structure to address the reliability, safety and interoperability demanded by Utility grade SCADA. DataRemote has built business on providing highly secure, robust, reliable and interoperable systems to meet the demands of the industry.
Meet the leader behind the success of DataRemote
Robert Moses, CEO of DataRemote has over 35 years of telecommunications and manufacturing experience. Mr. Moses originally joined DataRemote in 2013 as a VP of Business Development, eventually becoming its largest shareholder. As CEO, Mr. Moses has successfully steered the company from a telematics distributor to a leader in POTS line replacement solutions. Prior to joining DataRemote, Robert served as the Director of Business Development for CalAmp; and founder and CEO of Land-cellular, a company eventually acquired by CalAmp. He also previously held leadership roles at Power Telephone Supply and Traeger Brothers.
