The rising pollution and fuel costs have forced us to consider electric vehicles as an option. The efficiency and cost-effectiveness of electric vehicles make them the right choice for the future. The broad-scale shift to electric vehicles could bring significant changes to our society with regard to not only the technologies we use for personal transportation but also to moving our economies away from fossil fuels and reducing the environmental footprint of transportation.

Electric vehicles are on the brink of experiencing rapid growth in both developed and developing vehicle markets. Globally there are various providers in the EV segment delivering outstanding services, but Envirotech Vehicles (EVT) stands out from the rest. The EVT team brings more than 30 years of in-depth industry expertise, as well as access to an innovative, growing, customer-ready product line of vehicles, systems, and green technology that serves last-mile fleets, school districts, public and private transportation service companies, and colleges and universities to meet the increasing demand for heavy-duty electric vehicles. EVT is committed to building the best electric commercial vehicles that meet the needs of its customers. The company creates commercial EVs with its customer’s feedback and designs vehicles with the commercial driver in mind. EVT vehicles drive like standard commercial vehicles, void of high-tech bells and whistles that require an in-depth user manual to operate. EVT vehicles are low maintenance, easy to operate, and even easier to maintain.

EVT is the first purpose-built zero-emission, 100% homologated electric vehicle provider compliant with the EPA, Department of Public Transportation, and National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA) requirements, meaning that the company’s vehicles are not only good for the environment and economically beneficial for customers, they’re also safe and meet specified criteria mandated by state and federal governments. EVT’s vehicles do not use chips, so the manufacturing of the company’s electric commercial vehicles is not impacted by chip and supply chain shortages.

In conversation with Phillip Oldridge, CEO and Board Chair of Envirotech Vehicles

Q. What was the motivation behind starting Envirotech Vehicles?

EVs are a key part of the proposed solution to reduce the impact commercial vehicles’ have on the environment. Though the primary focus on EVs has been on private passenger vehicles, the potential impact of EVs in meaningful use in the commercial and government sectors is enormous. As part of the agenda to ramp up U.S. EV manufacturing and sales, the federal government recently issued a mandate that half of all new U.S. vehicles sold in the country are zero-emission by 2030. EVs are uniquely suited to commercial and government applications with predictable routes and schedules. EVs provide a unique, cost-effective solution that addresses the challenges of fluctuating fuel prices and local, state, and federal government compliance. These stats are all driving factors for EVT’s focus on the commercial sector.

Q. For many motorists, simply knowing that electric vehicles are better for the environment is reason enough to make the investment. Tell us about your role in promoting environmental sustainability.

EVs are a key part of the proposed solution to reduce the impact commercial vehicles’ have on the environment. Delivery drivers drive around all day. They go from delivery to delivery without ever turning off the engine. If we’re going to start making a positive impact on the environment as it relates to transportation, then we need to address the commercial sector.

Q. Compared to the few minutes it takes to fill up a conventional car at the gas station, recharging EV is a much more significant time investment. Is there an alternative to charge an EV on the go?

Charge time is one of the reasons why EVT believes that commercial EVs is a solution for sustainability. Commercial EVs are charged overnight. Most commercial, final mile delivery vehicles or transportation vehicles drive a 200-mile radius during the day and set in a parking lot after hours. Fleets can be recharged overnight, making commercial EV’s ideal for governments, municipalities, schools or businesses looking to go green.

Q. The battery packs within an electric vehicle are expensive and may need to be replaced more than once over the lifetime of the car. How do you address this challenge?

Batteries are like engines in a gas car. Engines need repairs, so car owners either choose to trade in the vehicle or service it. The average lifespan of a gas-powered commercial vehicle is 7 to 12 years. Currently, there is no data on what that period is for EV commercial vehicles. We have EVT vehicles that have been on the road for more than five years, and the batteries are still going strong.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

We recently launched a right-hand drive van and are currently working on launching an electric passenger school bus.

Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

We’re constantly updating our products at EVT to include more commercial EV offerings. We have an electric school bus that’s currently in testing and will launch soon. We’re proud to announce that we recently uplisted to the Nasdaq Capital Market as EVTV. Our team rang the NASDAQ opening bell on

July 7, 2022. We also recently announced the purchase of the company’s first US-based manufacturing facility in Osceola, Arkansas. EVT has seen steady growth. Customers can expect to see continued progress as we deliver more and more commercial EVs to customers across the country.
