Yukon Palmer, FieldLogix Founder and CEO: “We provide a 72 hour prediction of each driver’s accident risk and fleet operators use this data to coach their high risk drivers to reduce the likelihood of accidents”
The Silicon Review
FieldLogix, founded by Yukon Palmer, is a leading AI-powered Field Resource Management platform designed to optimize fleet operations through telematics and advanced technologies. Palmer’s journey in the telematics industry began in 2000 when he worked as a top sales representative at Teletrac, one of the pioneers in the space. Despite his success, Palmer sought leadership opportunities that weren’t available to him within the stagnant company. With a clear ambition to lead a company within five years, he enrolled in San Diego State University’s MBA program to further his skills and advance his career. During one of his courses, Palmer was tasked with creating a business plan and partnered with a group of students, including a software engineer experienced in building telematics systems. Together, they identified key gaps in the market and developed a plan for a new telematics company that addressed those needs. Palmer and his team pitched the business plan for his company at several national business plan competitions, which included the founders of Ticketmaster and CompUSA as judges. Encouraged by the positive feedback he received from the judges, Palmer gained the confidence to turn his academic project into a real business. In his final semester, FieldLogix was born.
FieldLogix provides fleet operators with comprehensive tools such as telematics, dash cameras, mobile dispatching, time-keeping, and mobile forms, with several capabilities powered by AI. These solutions help organizations improve efficiency, enhance driver safety, and reduce operational costs. Under Palmer’s leadership, FieldLogix continues to push the boundaries of telematics, delivering cutting-edge technology to meet the evolving needs of fleet management. Today, it stands as a trusted partner for businesses looking to streamline operations and make data-driven decisions that boost performance and safety.

Q. AI is driving innovation in fleet management. How does your platform use AI to improve driver safety?
We use AI to predict accident risk for each driver by monitoring all unsafe driving behavior and comparing it to the local weather forecast, since these are two of the biggest contributing factors to accidents. Our AI model is based on all accidents that have occurred throughout all of our fleets and the local weather conditions when they occurred. We provide a 72 hour prediction of each driver’s accident risk and fleet operators use this data to coach their high risk drivers to reduce the likelihood of accidents.
Q. FieldLogix emphasizes customer support as a differentiator. What specific strategies or features do you offer to ensure that clients receive top-notch service and support after adopting your platform?
We provide extensive training for all new users, via live one-on-one training sessions and videos in our portal. We make our support team readily accessible via support forms and live chat in our portal. We have an advanced replacement program that minimizes any downtime when replacing malfunctioning telematics devices. We also continuously survey our customers to ensure that they are satisfied and give them an opportunity to provide suggestions on our support process and system functionality.
Q. Sustainability is a growing focus for many businesses. How does FieldLogix help fleets improve their sustainability efforts, and what specific tools within your platform contribute to reducing environmental impact?
We help improve sustainability efforts by monitoring the poor driving habits that are the most wasteful when it comes to fuel consumption, idling and speeding. We display this on a Sustainability Scorecard that ranks the drivers and assigns them a “green score” based on their driving habits. We even provide the fleet operators with an estimated fuel cost associated with these poor driving habits. We are proud to say that we are one of the first companies in our industry to provide such a report, having released it in 2012.
Q. Data analytics is crucial in fleet management. How does FieldLogix utilize advanced analytics and reporting to help fleet managers optimize their operations and make data-driven decisions?
We provide several high-level reports on fleet safety and performance. Two such reports are the benchmarks report and the safety scorecard. The benchmarks report compares individual fleets to other fleets in the same region with metrics such as idling, speeding, and aggressive driving. Fleets use this report to get an idea as to whether their fleet’s performance is similar to their peers or if they are performing better or worse. The safety scorecard provides a high-level view of driver safety behaviors such as speeding and aggressive driving. Fleets use this report to identify poorly performing drivers so they can coach them. They also often use the report to reward their best-performing drivers. In addition, we provide trend reports that show operating performance for their fleet over the past few months as well as projection reports that predict future performance based on the historical trends.
Q. FieldLogix has won multiple awards for innovation and growth. Can you share some key milestones or achievements that you believe were instrumental in garnering this recognition?
Innovation in several areas has led to recognition as one of the industry’s innovation leaders. These areas include the adoption of artificial intelligence in 2020, client ETA alerts and communications, driver behavior monitoring, and the use of wearables technology. Revenue growth has contributed to recognition as one of the fastest-growing companies in the San Diego region for several years.
Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?
We are determined to continue to enhance the platform to meet the various needs of our clients. This includes additional AI capabilities, improved driver dispatching capabilities, and additional driver behavior management features. These capabilities align with the industry-wide concerns of our target industries and our individual clients’ needs to accomplish their day-to-day tasks.
