Full Harvest: Transforming Agricultural Markets by Connecting Surplus Produce to Commercial Buyers
The Silicon Review
A digital B2B marketplace streamlines transactions by connecting buyers and sellers on a centralized platform, expanding market access, and improving efficiency. It reduces manual processes, lowers costs, and increases transparency with real-time data. Without it, sourcing is slow, limited to local contacts, and prone to errors, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities. In agriculture, this results in higher food waste as surplus or imperfect produce often goes unsold. Full Harvest contributes by providing a digital marketplace that connects farmers with commercial buyers to sell all grades of produce, including surplus and imperfect items, helping reduce waste and promote sustainability in the food supply chain.
About Full Harvest
Full Harvest was born out of Christine Moseley, Founder & CEO's passion for the environment, affordable healthy food, and efficiencies. The concept behind Full Harvest came from a passionate desire to fundamentally change the food system for the better. While scaling one of the first cold-pressed juice companies, Organic Avenue, she loved their mission for healthy food products, but was frustrated that they were making $13 green juices. The high price point was due to purchasing expensive, perfect-looking produce to then just immediately process it. In 2014, she moved to California to find a way to create a more sustainable, efficient produce supply chain leveraging technology and my 10+ years of operations and food experience.
She stepped calf-deep into gorgeous, delicious romaine leaves that were going to be churned back into the ground while on a farm tour, where she was watching the harvesting of romaine hearts. To pack the ideal-looking center romaine heart for grocery shops, up to 75% of the romaine heads were wasted; this was more than was being eaten. However, the edible outer leaves that were discarded would have been ideal for the green juices that we had just finished preparing. The fact that almost 25% of all edible vegetables produced worldwide do not even make it past the farm level astounded her.
In the meantime, people are going hungry, and climate change is getting worse. In addition to running out of land, water, and healthy soil, this is undesirable since it wastes so much valuable food. She promised to keep going until this issue was resolved. It is essential to humanity. Full Harvest is aware that it must address all facets of the on-farm food loss issue, including access and data, to tackle the food waste problem exponentially more quickly.
Bringing the entire produce business online is essential to addressing these issues and guaranteeing 100% complete harvests. A key step in developing a more sustainable produce industry is to broaden their marketplace skills to encompass all USDA Grade 1 products, not only their knowledge of surplus and defective. The goal of Full Harvest is to create a world with 100% "full harvests," or edible produce that is raised for human use, and zero food waste. In order to utilize resources and put the business online for the first time, they want to use technology to reimagine the supply chain for produce.
A New Era for Produce Sourcing and Selling
For Buyers
Full Harvest’s platform offers buyers a streamlined way to source a wide range of produce—including USDA Grade 1, surplus, and imperfect items—directly from farmers nationwide. Buyers can easily browse listings, compare prices, and place orders through a centralized digital marketplace. The platform automates logistics and payment processes, reducing time and administrative effort. This access to diverse produce grades helps buyers meet sustainability goals by reducing food waste and expanding sourcing options. Additionally, competitive pricing and reliable supply chains improve operational efficiency, making Full Harvest a valuable tool for retailers, food service companies, and distributors seeking fresh, sustainable produce.
For Sellers
Full Harvest enables growers and farmers to sell all grades of their food, including surplus and imperfect goods that could otherwise go to waste, in order to maximize profits. Through an easy-to-use digital platform, sellers can create profiles, list available produce, and connect with a nationwide network of commercial buyers. The platform streamlines order management, logistics, and payments, reducing administrative burden. By accessing new markets and buyers, sellers increase their sales opportunities and profits by up to 12%. Full Harvest also supports sustainability by helping farmers reduce food waste and make the most of their entire harvest.
