Q. What was the motivation behind starting Hhemp.co?

My journey into the health-centerd hemp-derived cannabinoid formulation and manufacturing industry has been my quest to source, formulate, and produce plant-based products to help find ways to aid my son. Some of his autistic behaviors, such as lack of verbal speech, fine motor skills, cognitive reasoning, diminished social skills, night terrors, and seizures, have all been helped by the use of cannabinoids found in the hemp plant.

My goal is to share my passion for this incredible plant and give back to the communities that need it most by helping people heal and achieve optimal health. This journey has been defined by study, research, and building a network of doctors, licensed pharmacists, extraction labs, technicians, cultivators, seed genetics companies, and hundreds of cannabis and hemp operators and distributors. One overarching goal of mine is to educate consumers on the benefits of plant medicine. I would like Hhemp.co to become one of the most-trusted, science-based, and effective brands in this industry.

Q. Can you tell us about your services?

Our primary services center around contract manufacturing and white labeling. Hhemp.co has its own line of flagship products and accordingly is also positioned to help CBD brands develop, formulate, lab-test, design, and manufacture hemp-derived products and generally assist with product development. Q. In terms of addiction, cannabis may be one of the least dangerous drugs. Not body addictive, but can cause mental dependency. How can we avert this?

In my opinion, it will be very difficult to avert the potential effect of cannabis to cause mental dependency. Cannabis affects people differently, and accordingly, it is impossible to gauge how much cannabis is dangerous to cause mental dependency. However, as we continue tracking dosage levels via regulations, we will get a sense of what is a recommended daily dose for an average adult. Until there is research on cannabis as an active ingredient, it will be very difficult to come up with a standard to warn people. Everyone knows what the dangerous dose of Advil or Tylenol is — it states it right on the bottle. There is no such information on how much cannabis is too much. Temporarily, we leave it up to the consumer to make that educated guess, hopefully based on testing information included by the brand on the label and ideally educational materials on their blog and social media accounts.

Q. How did you decide what types of products you want to make?

I have had many years of experience at an extraction and ingredient company in California, making ingredients and products for over 100 companies. With the experience and ability to learn from other companies’ mistakes and success, I have been blessed with a great team and the opportunity to lead them in creating products that consumers trust, enjoy, and believe in. 

Q. How did you come up with the name “Hhemp.co”? 

We wanted to be known as a hemp — not cannabis — company, and wanted to highlight the main functional ingredient in our products are hemp-derived cannabinoids. Therefore, Hhemp.co, pronounced “Hemp Co” was the name we decided on. I wanted a name people could recognize easily and inherently appreciate the hard work needed to keep up our brand’s reputation and quality. It is not easy to maintain the highest quality in product effectiveness, packaging design, and sales education. It takes an army of talented, hardworking, and dedicated teams. I try to lead my team with vision, transparency, ethics, and the determination to always ask questions before leading. If you want a culture at your headquarters that will build the best, most productive team, you must listen first and be able to pivot.

Founder and CEO of Hhemp.co Dr. Bao Le's start in the CBD industry was a personal endeavor to help his son, who was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum at 14 months old. By the age of 2.5, his son began to suffer from grand mal seizures. After extensive research, Dr. Le was able to find a formulation that was able to help his son, and from there, committed to finding safe and alternative treatment for children with similar conditions.
