Shankara Building Products Ltd. is one of India's leading organized retailers of home improvement and building products in India, based on a number of stores operating under "Shankara Buildpro". The company carries with it a legacy of 21 years of impeccable service to customers spread across south, west, and east India.

Its operations are headquartered in Bangalore. The distribution network, branch offices, warehouses, and retail stores span the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, TamilNadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Orissa, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Puducherry. It has its own fleet of trucks for transport to help augment its logistics capabilities. This helps in providing the last mile delivery. Its processing facilities are located in numerous states of India.

Today, Shankara represents one of the largest and leading organised retailers of building products in India with products including structural steel, cement, TMT bars, hollow blocks, pipes and tubes, roofing solutions, welding accessories, primers, solar heaters, plumbing, tiles, sanitary ware, water tanks, plywood, kitchen sinks, lighting and other allied products.

Shankara employs over 1700 people and this family continues to grow. Our success is based on a combination of the team's passion for building products and capabilities to scale very fast. Business Units

Retail: The retail arm of Shankara provides a wide range of building products. There are 100 retail counters spread across the Shankara geography which cater to a large customer base. The product portfolio includes TMT and steel products, fabrication items, cement, roofing solutions, CP fittings, sanitaryware, tiles, wooden flooring, electrical and plumbing items, aluminum composite panels, etc. to name a few. It offers products from brands such as Alstone, Futura, Sintex, APL Apollo, Ganga, etc. Shankara Buildpro aims to be a one-stop shop for building products and solutions.

Processing: Shankara has three processing units housed in subsidiaries:

• Taurus Value Steel & Pipes Pvt Ltd: It is located near Hyderabad, Telangana with a processing capability of steel pipes and tubes (HR rounds, sections, galvanized, precision tubes, and special grade tubes) and Galvanised strips.
• Vishal Precision Steel Tubes & Strips Pvt Ltd: It is located near Bangalore, Karnataka with a processing capability of steel pipes, tubes, and cold rolled strips.
• Century Wells Roofing India Pvt Ltd: It has units located in Bangalore, Hubli, Chennai, Coimbatore, Vijayawada, and Pune processing color roofing sheets and accessories.

Enterprise: The enterprise business encompasses an own fleet of 47 trucks to augment its logistics capabilities, covering rural, semi-urban, and urban requirements of the geography the company operates in. In this vertical, the company services large end-users, contractors, OEMs, and projects, apart from catering to its network of retailers. Shankara has the potential and infrastructure available in numerous key locations of India. The enterprise business currently has the capacity to handle 323, 200 tonnes of steel and steel tubes per annum and also other building products like water tanks, tiles, bath fittings, welding electrodes, etc.

Shankara firmly believes in its contribution to society. SBPL has a clear commitment to promote women empowerment and help underprivileged children and the elderly. Following are some of the company’s initiative to contribute towards the society:

• Shankara has adopted a school in Bangalore as a part of its continued philosophy of giving back to society and also distributes school materials to needy children in rural areas
• It has sponsored a program called 'child rights through soccer’ in Chennai
• Shankara conducts health camp regularly for underprivileged people to prevent high-risk It also runs an ongoing program to sponsor mobile health camp through HelpAge India, an NGO in Bangalore
• Shankara supported an outreach program to help HIV affected families in Bangalore. It also provides financial support to rehabilitate and educate physically and mentally challenged children in remote areas

Meet the Leader

SukumarSrinivas, Founder,and Managing Director: He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai, University of Madras and a post-graduate diploma in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has 33 years of experience in the steel tubes and building product industry. Prior to joining the Shankara, he was associated with Gemini Steel Tubes Limited in various capacities. He currently holds the position of President of the Karnataka Pipe Dealer’s Association.
