In conversation with Turan Akin and Diljinderjit Rakhra, Senior Vice Presidents of GCB Services

Q. What is the core vision of GCB Services, and how does your role contribute to this vision? Can you discuss any strategic initiatives you are currently focused on?

We celebrated 20 years in business, and during these years, GCB’s principals shared the core values of being ethical, agile, responsive, efficient, cost-conscious, and accurate. We, along with our colleagues, are staunch practitioners of this credo. Even when faced with challenges, we own the project fully and work to overcome them in a manner that is transparent to our clients. This credo served us well, resulting in repeat business and referrals.

Q. How is GCB Services adapting to stay ahead of the curve? What trends do you see as most impactful in the next few years?

GCB believes in increasing the productivity of our staff instead of throwing bodies at the problem. To this end, GCB has in-house software and firmware development and engineering teams and partners to provide tools that have been incorporated into our work and projects to highly improve the efficiency and quality of our solutions. To this end, with our partners and in-house software teams, we developed tools that use cutting-edge technologies. Currently, with our partners, we have developed artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and robotics in systems and tools. Our principals have obtained patents, and there will be more patents on the way.

GCB has officially become a system integrator for private networks, covering both 4G and 5G technologies. With extensive experience in deploying cellular networks, we’re proud to embark on this journey to support private enterprises across North America in their endeavor to launch a private cellular network (PCN). GCB has a laboratory as a service to test the interoperability of private network components.

Q. How does GCB Services foster innovation, particularly in terms of integrating new technologies into your services or operations?

As discussed above, GCB believes in increasing the productivity of our staff instead of throwing bodies at the problem. To this end, we focused on new technologies, and with our partners and in-house software teams, we developed tools that use cutting-edge technologies for location-based services. One recent example is the patent GCB’s current partners obtained in 2023. The patent is entitled “System and Method to Determine the Real-Time Location of a User Device.” Based on this patent, a tool will be released in 2024. This system will allow cost-effective, efficient, and accurate indoor mapping and Z-testing (vertical) to satisfy the FCC requirements and ATIS guidelines where GPS coverage is not adequate.

GCB, with its partners, has optimization solutions aimed at DAS venue upgrades, particularly in stadiums requiring capacity enhancements that could lead to considerable cost savings. By integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning, we aim at improving network performance and prolonging the infrastructure’s lifespan, thus postponing the need for immediate upgrades and leading to considerable savings in CAPEX as well. Additionally, we are working with our partners to incorporate AI and machine-learning-driven tools to have fault prediction for telecom networks. GCB is currently deploying a 5G standalone (SA) network and has completed over 12,000 sites.

Q. Can you discuss how GCB Services maintains its focus on customer satisfaction and builds long-term client relationships?

In our company, we prioritize not only delivering top-notch products and services but also ensuring that our clients have an exceptional overall experience. We leverage our extensive industry knowledge to offer innovative, scalable, and dependable engineering services to the telecommunications sector, all while optimizing costs. At GCB, we take pride in the fact that a significant portion of our business comes from repeat customers. Our executive technical sales and project managers actively engage with both current and potential clients to understand their existing and future needs.

We regularly gather feedback from clients’ managers and team leads in real-time, allowing us to anticipate their future requirements. Additionally, to stay ahead of industry trends, we actively participate in regulatory bodies such as ATIS. Moreover, we continuously develop software tools and procedures to ensure that we remain at the forefront of the rapidly evolving telecom industry. Overall, at GCB, our focus is not just on delivering exceptional services but also on building long-term relationships with our clients by consistently meeting and exceeding their expectations.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

At GCB, our commitment to continuous learning and innovation drives us to constantly develop new solutions to meet the evolving needs of our clients. This year, we are excited to launch several groundbreaking services:

  • We are introducing an AI-based tool tailored for Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) venue upgrades, particularly focusing on stadiums requiring capacity enhancements. This tool is designed to deliver significant cost savings while ensuring optimal performance.
  • Leveraging a patented system, we are launching a solution for cost-effective, efficient, and precise indoor mapping and Z-testing (vertical testing) to meet FCC requirements and ATIS guidelines in areas with inadequate GPS coverage. This innovation will revolutionize indoor mapping processes.
  • Our AI and Machine Learning-driven tools are set to revolutionize fault prediction for both telecom and IoT networks. By harnessing advanced technologies, we aim to proactively address network issues before they escalate, ensuring seamless operations for our clients.
  • We are proud to announce that GCB has officially become a system integrator for Private Networks, covering both 4G and 5G technologies. Drawing on our extensive experience in deploying Cellular Networks, we are embarking on a journey to support private enterprises across North America in launching Private Cellular Networks (PCN). To ensure the highest standards of quality and compatibility, GCB operates a dedicated laboratory for testing the interoperability of Private network components.

These new services underscore our commitment to innovation, excellence, and client satisfaction. We are excited about the opportunities they bring and look forward to continuing to exceed the expectations of our clients in the ever-evolving telecommunications landscape.
