First IoT solutions company to attain SOC 2 compliance

Achieving SOC 2 compliance is a significant accomplishment for Mesh Systems, as it demonstrates the company's commitment to providing the highest level of security and trust to its customers. SensorSync, a gateway device designed for simple wireless remote monitoring, interfaces with local area sensors and actuators through both wired and wireless interfaces via Modbus RTU and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), respectively. The device is also “Plug and Play” enabled — a Microsoft technology that automatically integrates smart devices into solutions without manual configuration of the device. “The device is a highly secure, industrial-grade, and a no-code-required, cost-effective gateway,” said Uriel Kluk, Mesh Systems’ Chief Technology Officer. SensorSync is self-contained and can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments with the ability to operate over an extended temperature range. The device leverages a Twilio Trust Onboard programmable SIM with X.509 client-side certification that provides “easy, production-ready authentication with the Microsoft Azure Cloud and is globally connectable to cellular networks,” Kluk said.

BLE 5.0/4.2 allows SensorSync to be compatible with off-the-shelf industrial-grade wireless sensors including, but not limited to: 3-Axis accelerometers, temperature, humidity, and motion sensors. The ModBus interface exposes configuration to poll registers and report telemetry from industrial devices such as PLC and ModBus IO. The device is location-aware through multi-constellation Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Azure certification allows for the acceleration of IoT initiatives and for customers to have confidence in the readiness, compatibility, and usability of certified devices. SensorSync was tested by Microsoft to meet its reference configuration to guarantee functionality and interoperability. SensorSync is now included in the Azure Certified Device Catalogue, an exclusive listing of devices that have gone through the same certification process. “Being part of the Azure Certified Device program validates our ability to jumpstart customers’ IoT projects with pre-tested device and operating system combinations,” said Andrew Cohoat, Vice President of Business Development at Mesh Systems. “Decreasing the usual customization and work required for compatibility ensures Mesh Systems can help customers get quickly started on their IoT solution.”

Richard Baxter is Co-Founder and CEO of Mesh Systems. Prior, he was Co-Founder and CTO of Pensar Corporation, a diversified electronics design and manufacturing services company. At Pensar, Richard architected and managed the Company’s technology strategy, intellectual property portfolio, and engineering workforce. He served as Senior VP of Global Design Services for SMTC Corporation (Toronto, ON), a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company, following SMTC’s acquisition of Pensar in 2000.

Richard has more than 40 years of diverse experience in high technology software, services and manufacturing businesses. He is recognized as an IoT pioneer and technical expert in sensors, wireless communications, and embedded networking. Richard holds 11 U.S. patents and is a 1982 graduate of Purdue University, where he received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
