“Our platform helps companies achieve digital transformation by solving data-related challenges, including real-time data use-cases.”

Naveego is a leading cloud-native data integration platform with built-in data quality, data accuracy, and data governance.

The company was founded in 2014 and is based in Traverse City, MI.

Derek Smith, Naveego Co-founder and CTO, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

Q. Explain your services in brief.

The Naveego® Complete Data Accuracy Platform™ leverages big data frameworks to enable organizations to proactively manage, detect and eliminate data accuracy issues across all enterprise data sources in real-time, regardless of its structure or schema. It seamlessly connects to each source, whether in the cloud or on-premise. It scales effortlessly to ingest data streaming from data lakes, IoT devices, and edge services to provide a single, holistic view of all information assets to create analytics-ready information and ensure global data health. The solution is easy to use and adopt and empowers businesses to start taking control of their data in just hours.

Q. Cloud services are expected to continue to play a vital role in the ingestion, computation, storage, and management of information. How do you interpret this?

The cost of managing and maintaining the infrastructure required to perform machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) operations with massive amounts of data prevented most companies from taking on these projects. Cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Microsoft Azure have largely solved this problem by providing a turnkey Platform-as-a-Service that allows any company to benefit from ML and AI applications with little or no up-front cost barrier.

Q. Do you believe advanced sub-systems and infrastructures in place will play an essential role in providing real-time experience?

Advanced sub-systems and infrastructures will play a critical yet transparent role in providing real-time experiences. Cloud hosting providers will largely be responsible for creating and managing these sub-systems to remain invisible to the end-user. A prime example of this is the proliferation of object storage systems like AWS S3. The sub-systems and infrastructure use to provide a highly reliable, highly redundant, massive data storage system must be incredible. Yet as a user of these systems, I see a place to store my files.

Q. Even if a company has sufficient data, critics argue that when anticipating human behavior, computers and algorithms fail to consider variables—from changing weather to moods to relationships—that might influence people’s behavior patterns. How to overcome this uncertainty for better decision making?

Overcoming this uncertainty will require advancements in AI. Drawing conclusions between two (or more) seemingly isolated sets of information requires extrapolation, which is not something that ML can do alone.

Q. How do you market your services?

Naveego markets its product using many inbound and outbound strategies. Our platform helps companies achieve digital transformation by solving data-related challenges, including real-time data use-cases.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

Naveego just launched a new generation of its Complete Data Accuracy™ platform that provides end-to-end data integration with built-in data accuracy services. The enhancements include end-to-end data integration, an overhauled user experience, governance and compliance updates, and well-advanced security features such as data masking and obfuscation.

Q. What are your trajectories for the next five years?

Naveego is working hard to become a trusted data platform for companies of all sizes. To achieve that goal, we are adding unstructured data capabilities to the platform.
