“We begin with our customers’ core values and competitive differentiators and deliver these messages across the addressable marketplaces.”

Public relations/marketing aims primarily to provide communication between an organization and its users -- it is one of the most important business functions for any organization. With the present climate of global extensions that the majority of the modern-day businesses practice, it is essential that organizations be clear with what they want to portray to the consumers.

Jaymie Scotto & Associates (JSA) is the pre-eminent provider of public relations, marketing and event planning services to the data center, tech and telecom industries. The firm has delivered the finest outreach and brand awareness services available – with a measurable Return on Investment. The company’s clients enjoy ‘insider access’ to the top journalists, bloggers, analysts, and thought leaders shaping tech and telecom – as well as critical networking and educational opportunities, including JSA’s own monthly Virtual Round tables.

The company was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Middlebrook, Virginia.

Jaymie Scotto Cutaia: Interview Highlights

Q. What was the reason behind the genesis of Jaymie Scotto & Associates (JSA)? How did you expand your company and its offerings over the years?

JSC: Prior to founding JSA, I served as the Director of Marketing and PR at Telx. During my early tenure there, a global PR firm (that also represented popular cereal and toothpaste brands) was already retained. As great as this firm was in the B2C marketplace, I quickly became frustrated by my account manager’s lack of telecom and data center knowledge -- not to mention lack of passion for what we do; she couldn’t even pronounce the word ‘colocation’, our primary service offering (she called it ‘coll-o-cation’). So, I quickly set out to find another industry-specific, integrated PR, and marketing firm. However, in the early 2000s, none existed. Knowing our industry had a need, I created JSA in January of 2005. Over time, I was able to recruit and retain the very best writers, marketers, analysts, and media mavens of the industry, becoming not only the first PR and marketing firm dedicated to the telecom and data center industries, but our industry’s premier agency.

Q. What challenges did you face in your initial years?

JSC: I learned early on how to hire well. And as a consulting company, that was our biggest challenge we needed to address in the early days.

“Earning trust and respect of consumers all around the world is through consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of our actions.” How do you interpret this statement?

JSC: This statement is in line with our JSA philosophies. Keep your eye set on delivering quality service, with integrity, consistency, focus and tenacity, and clients will trust and respect you-- not just your words, but your actions as well.

Q. What makes your company stand out from the competition?

JSC: We are the gold-star standard in our industry because we provide real and measurable value to our clients. How we do this is by hiring, training, incentivizing and growing our team. We also believe in our ‘divide and conquer’ approach—assigning a full marketing team to each of our accounts, including a strategist, director, writer, and analyst. We also ensure our team has every opportunity to succeed, with leading automated marketing and AI-driven technology, marketplace and competitive benchmarking tools, established relationships, and monthly trainings and certifications.

What would you say are the top 3 skills needed for successful CEO?

  • Outline the items on your plate that you are not passionate about completing, and hire accordingly to fulfill these needs. Do the same for your top leaders who need additional support. Hire people who have proven expertise, and PASSION to succeed.
  • Ensure your team believes in and operates from your company’s core values. By doing so here at JSA, we all share the same ‘JSAness’ and provide the same level of customer service and quality work across all our accounts.
  • When you have prize thoroughbreds on your team, just point them in the right direction, and let them go. (This is one of my husband’s favorite lines, so I am borrowing here!) But in other words, trust your amazing team. They might not take the same tactics you might to accomplish goals, but new ways and new voices may be the necessary ingredients to ensuring your company is transforming successfully.

Q. Do you have any new products ready to be launched?

JSC: Our newest offerings: JSA has invested in cutting-edge tools, including AI-driven SEO and PPC platforms, and on-demand competitive intel. This gives our clients assurance that they are receiving the latest, smart performance and analysis. We are applying this data to better understand Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs), so our prospect messaging is on-point, in front of the right eyeballs, and delivered via multiple, informative channels. We are already yielding impressive results for our clients
