“Regenerative Processing Plant is one of the founders of regenerative medicine and, through ongoing research and development, will continue to focus on novel discoveries that will continue to change the standard of care.”
Stem cells represent an exciting area of medicine due to their potential to regenerate and repair damaged tissue. Some current therapies and advancements, such as bone marrow transplantation, already make use of stem cells and their potential for the regeneration of damaged tissues and wound healing. Various other stem cell therapies are still under investigation. Stem cells have and will continue to play a critical role in regenerative medicine and scientific discoveries through developmental biology and therapeutic applications. Stem cells will be the magical medical therapeutic component of the future.

Regenerative Processing Plant was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Randall Harrell, M.D., Chairman and CEO of Regenerative Processing Plant, LLC, spoke to The Silicon Review about how his company-built solution is creating a new path in the regenerative medicine sector.
Q. What's your story? And tell us what motivated you to establish Regenerative Processing Plant, LLC.
My story began years ago when I was a young boy. My mother suffered from chronic dry eyes, and we went to many different doctors for relief. However, the only solution offered was to put moist warm compresses on the eye, which was the extent of what they could do back in that time. Even though I was young, it seemed to me there had to be a better option than a compress.
As I was able to acquire more knowledge and understand more about the chronic inflammatory nature of all diseases, including chronic dry eye, I thought if we could decrease the chronic inflammation and get the regeneration to occur, we could get a much better outcome than anything else on the market. And that's what we found in clinical practice. Creating a product to help solve this seemed logical and exciting to me.
Q. How does Regenerative Processing transform wellness medicine?
Wellness is something that everyone has been aware of for many decades. Regenerative medicine is a completely new way of how the body heals itself and regenerates if placed in the proper microenvironment.
Q. Trust is one of the most important currencies of leadership that requires authenticity and consistency to maintain. What's your take on this?
Trust is one of the key foundations of any business. As Chairman and CEO, I feel that everything starts from the top, and it is my responsibility to clearly communicate to my team and our customers about the vision of what we do differently and better. My experience has shown that this works best when there is mutual trust and respect between leadership and the team working toward a common goal and the excitement of accomplishing something that will change the standard of care for millions of people.
It is unusual for most staff to have worked at a growth company that is growing over 200 percent year over year. Everyone thinks that is great, and it is; however, this type of fast pace and growth creates unique management challenges. The only thing constant in a growth company such as Regenerative Processing Plant is a change that occurs daily. This is needed to sustain the quality culture that allows the 200 percent growth.
Q. Who do you look up to and why?
Two people have always stood out as exceptional individuals. The first is Dr. Michael DeBakey, who developed the largest medical center in the world, Texas Medical Center, and changed the standard of care for Cardiovascular Surgery and a new standard for the MASH units he developed. He heard from many people that what he was trying to accomplish was not possible. Luckily, he didn't listen to them.
Henri Termeer saw an unmet need for a new novel, innovative treatment for rare diseases. He was also told that what he wanted to accomplish was not possible. Again, luckily, he never listened to the naysayers and changed the standard of care. Many people, when they are told that something is difficult, or worse, impossible they get discouraged and give up; however, the true visionary leaders get motivated and get the impossible accomplished.
Q. Where does Regenerative Processing Plant stand at the moment relative to other participants in the industry?
Regenerative medicine is a new understanding of how the body works in health and disease. Regenerative Processing Plant has been at the forefront since the early 90s on how better results can be obtained through biologics with better efficacy and safety than any pharmaceutical approach. This new understanding is becoming more accepted in mainstream medicine, and patients want to have a better alternative than what was available only a few years ago.
Q. No doubt Regenerative Processing is charting new territories in this segment. Given how frequently circumstances change, what plans for transformation are you pursuing to remain relevant now and in the future?
Regenerative Processing Plant is one of the founders of regenerative medicine and, through ongoing research and development, will continue to focus on novel discoveries that will continue to change the standard of care.
Our most recent products focus on ophthalmic diseases, especially ocular surface disease, and dry eye disease, affecting 1.5 billion people globally, and growing every year. Regener-Eyes® is a first-in-class, natural, biologic ophthalmic solution that is preservative-free.
