Sarah Pearce, Founder of Travelshoot, shares her story

“A few years back my husband and I took our first trip to New York. A friend of mine was a photographer based in the city, and we were his ‘test customers’ for a few photos along Brooklyn Bridge for his new website. Ironically the hour provided us with 10 images that we got to keep – they featured the most spectacular New York cityscape on sunset. Instead of candid selfies or trusting other tourists to get photos of us together like we usually do when we traveled – in these 10 images we were both in the frame of these very special and iconic memories.”

Where it all began

Since that original shoot in 2012, the founder, Sarah wanted to make the same experience possible in cities across the world. So she and her brother, Tim, Co-Founder set out to source an incredible team of talented photographers not only in Australia but across the globe. The company has spent years building (and more importantly testing out) a global network of local photographers who enjoy what they do, know the best local spots and agree to make Travelshoots more affordable.

The big break

The ultimate launchpad was timely – Travelshoot won the My Shark Tank Australia competition that recognized Travelshoot as Australia’s favorite new business concept in 2015. The morning after the TV episode went live, both Sarah and Tim woke up to an inbox full of excited customer enquiries – and it’s been an exciting whirlwind since then. Since the launch, the aim has remained the same – create a unique experience for travelers and help them capture holiday memories in an extraordinary way.

How it works.

Step 1: Book your Travelshoot by going to the “Find your location” option, pick your favorite itinerary and book your shoot! Fill out the booking form with a few details to help Travelshoot pair you with the best photographer that meets your needs.

Step 2: Meet your photographer; the company later connects you with the best available local photographer that meets your brief. Travelshoot will send you their profile including sample photos so you can meet your photographer. Your shoot itinerary will contain all the details you need to know pre your Travelshoot.

Step 3: Your photographer will meet you at the designated meeting point ready to guide you around their home city for a fun shoot. “Relax – it’s about being natural (no cheesy posing!) and having fun with the experience,” says Travelshoot.

Step 4: See your photos very soon since no one likes to wait – so within 48hours you’ll receive a couple of sneak peeks from your shoot – and then within 7 days, you will receive your entire Travelshoot album. All images will be available for you in an online gallery for you to download.
