Maxime Droit, REURASIA MANAGEMENT CORPORATION CEO spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

What was the reason behind the genesis of REURASIA? What are your offerings?

We believe that the best success in Asia is resulting from a combination of local knowledge and international expert. REURASIA is a Joint venture between an expert of energy with a strong track record in terms of management and engineering in a large international corporation and a local developer with a large network, good knowledge of the market, and solid development capabilities. This local/international geometry helps us deliver price-competitive services.

We started as technical support of full advantage in the Philippines, especially during construction and commissioning phases. We involve now in all the value chain of the project: from the study, permitting, financing, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance. Our offering to the clients include:

How successful was your first project roll on? Please share the experience.

Our first contract was to represent a 100-year-old French engineering and manufacturing company called Boccard. However, our first experience was not a success but we learned so much and it has helped Reurasia to become what we are today. We supported them for one year and helped them to source projects in the Philippines, then decided to structure our engineering department. It has been a good learning curve for us in terms of tendering and marketing.

How do you stay relevant to the consumer interests and needs in this highly volatile market?

“The essence of Reurasia is to be flexible”, it is our key differentiator with most competitors, we have no “off the shelf offer”, we always spend a lot of time with our customers before contracting to be sure, and we will render the service needed at affordable price. We have a very large range of competence so that we can provide all the services our customers need and not only a part of it.

If you have to list the factors that have been/are the biggest asset to your organization, what would they be and why?

  • Our people, their skills and motivation: A service company can only perform well if its employees are at their best. We work on building complementary teams, improve our employees’ skill sets and improve our standards to guide them
  • A structure and set of standards to help navigate through the day to day difficulties

What is your piece of advice to someone just starting out?

Coming from the project management side, I clearly underestimated the impact of Marketing, Human Resources, and Project Financing problematic. If I have only a few pieces of advice:

  • Try to be objective on your own capabilities and credibility in a field
  • Read a lot to have basic knowledge in the fields you are lacking experience
  • Surround yourself with credible persons to complement your weaknesses

Do you have any new products ready to be/ getting ready to be launched?

We are one of the few companies, looking for a hybrid system with biomass power plants. Our smart grid technology will allow isolated islands of the Philippines to finally get clean and affordable electricity. We are also working on movable biogas generators (inside a 20-foot container) to produce power from biodegradable waste, manure, etc. to be able to solve waste and electrification issues in the Philippines.

The Mastermind behind the Sustainable Growth of REURASIA MANAGEMENT CORPORATION

Maxime Droit serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of REURASIA MANAGEMENT CORPORATION. He is a French engineer who always worked in the low carbon emission industry. After working several years in AREVA (French listed company) as Construction and Commissioning Manager specialized in Biomass Power Plants, he decided to start REURASIA in partnership with Carla Abesamis and Bernardo Tadeo.
