First, we must understand that shipping is generally the management of logistics that is the safe movement of goods from one point to another. Due to ever-rising demands, eCommerce companies are turning towards robust shipping solutions to better serve and meet their consumer’s demands. When Covid 19 was rampant, eCommerce shipping software gave the flexibility of contactless and curbside pickups giving the consumers the freedom to place orders online from anywhere and pick them up in contact centers or warehouses. To meet the ever-growing demands, it is highly advisable to make use of eCommerce shipping solutions.

In conversation with Chris Wright Co-Founder and CTO of SmartShyp
Q. What was the motivation behind starting SmartShyp?
SmartShyp started with the intention of leveling the playing field between smaller eCommerce brands and big corporations. Our software has a full suite of tools so that anyone can ship like the pros.
Q. Can you explain about your services in brief?
Smartshyp is a leading post-purchase experience for merchants. The app includes automation for cloud-based order management, print shipping labels, rate shop different carriers, get cheaper shipping rates returns, package protection, tracking, and automate their shipping process.
Q. Access management and the privacy of sensitive information is a major consideration around cloud and hosted services. How can we overcome this issue?
Establishing trust with our users is critical, so at SmartShyp we believe in being transparent about our policies, disciplined in our implementation of these policies, and in being consistent. Access management and data privacy are mission-critical issues, and solutions have been built into our early strategic processes. Access management doesn’t have to be complex, it just has to be done. We’re well-versed in the available resources and we know how to leverage them. Data privacy is a constant challenge. It requires an ever-changing definition of what data may or may not be considered sensitive, as well as understanding user expectations.
Tell us in brief about your data management system and compliance.
Our company uses a wide array of the latest cloud technologies and services. We use services like AWS, “IAM” to provide the basis for our data access management. We keep a tight rein on access and perform routine maintenance like rotating keys and passwords. We prioritize and frequently discuss data management, how we can continue to improve, and where we might have holes and blind spots.
Q. The eCommerce industry is one of the most challenging to transform, because of the huge number of legacy systems, combined with the amount of highly sensitive, personalized information. How do your solutions address this concern?
We made a strategic decision early on to build our platform on the latest cloud technologies. This has allowed us to not only be agile but to continue to push the boundaries on newer cloud technologies. We’ve been able to do this all while building a secure data platform. Cloud technology and serverless technology are not synonymous with being insecure or vulnerable. Systems can be secure and data can be private all while leveraging the cloud to distribute new and engaging solutions.
Q. Faster shipping option is quickly becoming a necessity in the eCommerce field. How do you think SmartShyp is transforming the eCommerce sector?
SmartShyp is making it easier for eCommerce merchants to simplify and streamline their post-purchase experience. Giving them access to a wide range of education, resources, and tools to get their products into the hands of their customers has been our main goal since the beginning. By giving our users the ability to organize and manage their orders, print shipping labels, and automate their entire shipping process, we’re certainly transforming the eCommerce sector in terms of speed and efficiency.
Q. How do you market your services?
Our partnerships are a huge help in our marketing process. We are partnered with several sales channels and postage providers, which makes our network of connections secure and productive. We have a blog where we share our favorite eCommerce tips and tricks, as well as any product updates or launches. Connecting directly with our customers has always been a high priority of ours, and through that comes organic marketing and traffic as well.
Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?
We have recently launched a new product offering that allows our users to add package protection to their store. They are then able to offer package protection as an additional item at checkout. Their customers can then rest assured that if anything goes wrong while their package is in transit, we’ll have them covered and protected.
Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?
The future is looking bright for SmartShyp. We are looking forward to continually expanding and refining our current suite of offerings, as well as push further into our customers’ needs to provide them with an even more complete shipping experience.
