“Stratoscale is all about removing the operational complexity of building apps.”

Cloud computing is becoming one of the keywords of the IT industry. The cloud is a metaphor for the Internet or infrastructure of communication between the architectural components, based on an abstraction that hides the complexity of infrastructure. The applications/ software are provided as services that reside in data centers with server farms and redundant storage.

One such firm which is setting examples in the field of cloud computing services and filling the void that is present in the current sector is Stratoscale.

Stratoscale is a technology company that delivers the “cloud way” of building apps, in any IT environment. They offer a robust suite of managed open-source services to enable developers to build applications fast and focus only on what really matters. The company is built on top of a powerful platform that also supports operators and DevOps professionals by simplifying operations and boosting productivity.

They believe that the cloud is not an infrastructure choice; it’s a state-of-mind. And this state-of-mind should be available to developers wherever they choose to build their apps, run and scale them. Stratoscale delivers AWS compatible infrastructure and services that can be deployed in any enterprise data center. The company’s solutions include EC2-compatible and Kubernetes applications, S3-compatible, EBS-compatible and EFS-compatible storage, RDS-compatible databases, ELB-compatible load balancers, and EMR-compatible Hadoop. It also enables multi-cloud and hybrid applications while maintaining consistent management using AWS APIs.

Explications Platforms and Services furnished by Stratoscale

Private Cloud Platform

In today’s cloud-native era, IT is challenged with meeting developer’s expectations for fast, self-service provisioning as well as the ability to leverage automation tools across all environments. Stratoscale Private Cloud Platform provides a simplified operational complexity through automated end-to-end infrastructure provisioning of computing, storage and network resources across all enterprise environments. It also automates time-consuming operational tasks and empowers IT teams to accelerate application development with self-service and on-demand provisioning of all resources (compute, storage, networking), public cloud APIs to support infrastructure-as-code, and enhanced security through centralized management and advanced automation of recurring practices.

Enterprise Database Platform

Stratoscale Enterprise Database Platform makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale SQL and NoSQL databases in an enterprise IT environment just like in the cloud. It simplifies database operations with self-service provisioning, automated lifecycle management, and consolidated database monitoring across all enterprise environments. Stratoscale automates time-consuming administration tasks – such as infrastructure provisioning, database setup, patching, upgrades, and backups – equipping IT with better governance and control. This empowers IT teams with the tools necessary to support agile application development, enabling developers with the fast performance, high availability, security and compatibility they need.

The firm allows its clients to define and customize database instance types – optimized for CPU, memory, or I/O – and provides you with multiple popular database engines to choose from, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Cassandra, Redis, MongoDB, Oracle, and SQL Server. One can use the Stratoscale Database Migration Service to easily migrate or replicate their existing databases.

Containers Platform

Stratoscale offers managed Kubernetes environment on-premises for developing, deploying and scaling containerized applications. It also offers a single-click on-demand deployment that is an easy way to consume the latest upstream Kubernetes. The company aims at eliminating the need to manually install, manage, operate, and scale Kubernetes clusters across the enterprise data center.

Compute Services

Compute Instances

The KVM-based hypervisor resides at the heart of Stratoscale’s solution and provides unified and complete virtualization for computing, storage, and networking, with no need for third-party software. The hypervisor assures enterprise-grade virtualization to build a simple-to-manage, resilient and highly-available software-defined data center.

Storage Services

Block Storage

Stratoscale offers comprehensive block storage capabilities that are native to the hypervisor, enabling IT to reduce latency and overhead and to increase throughput. The distributed, high-performance storage service stripes all I/O across each available storage device in the rack, such as HDDs and flash devices, to assure durability in case of failure. Storage functionality can be extended to take advantage of existing storage assets that already exist in the data center.

Networking services

Virtual Private Cloud

Stratoscale features a native virtual networking function that manages the shared traffic capacity for storage, VM mobility and application traffic over the physical underlay network. It provides integrated QoS and automatic bandwidth allocation, as well as networking capabilities including virtual switching, routing, NAT, security groups and other L3/4 services. To simplify virtual network deployment, Stratoscale includes automatic networking setup, automatic interfaces discovery and IP configuration.

The mastermind behind the triumphant of Stratoscale

Ariel Maislos is the Founder and also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Stratoscale. He has an overall experience of twenty years in the field of technology innovation and entrepreneurship. After a ten-year career with the IDF, where he was responsible for managing a section of the Technology R&D Department; Ariel founded Passave, now the world leader in FTTH technology. It was established in 2001 and acquired in 2006 by PMC-Sierra (PMCS), where Ariel served as VP of Strategy.

In 2006 Ariel founded Pudding Media, an early pioneer in speech recognition technology, and Anobit, the leading provider of SSD technology acquired by Apple (AAPL) in 2012. At Apple, he served as a Senior Director in charge of Flash Storage, until he left the company to found Stratoscale. Ariel is a graduate of the prestigious IDF training program Talpiot and holds a BSc from the the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science (Cum Laude) and an MBA from Tel Aviv University. He holds numerous patents in networking, signal processing, storage, and flash memory technologies.
