The Silicon Review reached out to Systemax’s Springfield headquarters and spoke with Brett Jackson, who serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Here’s what he said.

Q. What was the motivation behind starting Systemax?
Systemax started out of a need of clients to find better ways to manage their inventory of marketing materials and printed products. We developed a way to purchase in larger quantities and decrease their costs and keep their branding consistent.
Q. Can you explain about your services in brief?
Systemax manages marketing assets for medium to large organizations. We do that by using our hub platform and centralized warehouse to distribute those assets across the US and to 178 different countries. Additionally, we have a full-service branding agency that offers everything from logo creation to marketing strategy and execution.
Q. Due to regulatory constraints on marketing and traditional branding, retailers’ awareness levels among consumers may be predicated on their ability to responsibly scale. How do you help to improve brand recognition through MAM?
We significantly help a company’s brand recognition by ensuring their branding is consistent across every asset they have, no matter if it is a printed brochure, promotional giveaway, or a social media post.
Our system allows for compliance to approve copies and documents before they are utilized. Additionally, in our vertical markets, we focus on and stay up with current compliance rules.
Q. What are the factors that contribute to the success of your business?
We believe in building from within. We choose and educate our team to be decision makers that are motivated, fun, and make your day brighter. This leads to high-level creativity, strong work culture, and a staff that wants to help solve problems.
Q. Why is branding critical for a business and what impact does it create on the company?
The branding of your company is the first impression of identity. Do you offer high-quality products and services? Are you known for being hip and modern? Your brand is who you are. Branding is what keeps it at the forefront of a consumer’s mind. Having a strong and consistent brand is what will get you in the top three of your customers’ minds and that is how you get the opportunity to earn their business.
Q. What is the role played by modern technologies in branding and how do you leverage them to achieve marketing goals?
Social platforms have opened up opportunities to push the message of your brand organically and genuinely. These offer ways to share behind-the-scenes, educational materials, and the personality of your brand. Short videos can help the consumer feel like they know your team, which helps them trust you. Things like one-off, customized designs for brochures, flyers, etc. make for a more personalized message. This could not be done easily without our platforms.
Q. How do you market your services?
We want to be the team you can’t live without. Systemax is the company that makes everything easier from design to logistics. With that said, if we are doing our job correctly, marketing takes care of itself. Our current customers continue to grow with us while also spreading the word. If we get the word out about a business, it grows and then they come back for more services. Really, the marketing and branding help we give to our clients, which is customized to their market, produces results that in the end promotes us as a company. It’s a true partnership.
Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?
We are releasing our new Marketing Asset Management platforms which can be customized in a variety of ways. Our new sites make ordering, releasing, and shipping branded items a breeze. The new platforms can store all digital assets, create 1:1 flipbooks, manage direct mail campaigns, and manage trade show assets, among other things.
Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?
Well, this year, we celebrate our 40th year in business. We look forward to 40 more years of growing with our customers. The exciting thing about being a problem-solving company is that it’s our clients that push the direction in which we go.
