Facing criminal charges, allegations, and legal proceedings with the risk of being behind bars for a long time can be terrifying and stressful. However, an in-depth understanding of the process as well as obtaining a criminal defense attorney’s legal assistance can go a long way to help you deal with your charges. If you are charged with a serious or violent crime, you have the right to defend yourself against those charges. The criminal justice system is designed to deliver justice to everyone. It aims to protect the innocent, convict criminals, and provide a fair justice process to help keep peace and order across the country. Criminal defense lawyers work on behalf of criminal defendants to achieve the best possible outcome for a defendant’s case. Criminal defense attorneys can be categorized into two: court-appointed attorneys paid by the government and private attorneys paid by the defendant.

The Law Office of Corey I. Cohen & Associates team is former public defenders and former state prosecutors who know firsthand how the prosecution will likely handle your case. With experience overseeing hundreds of cases, they can prepare an effective defense that anticipates prosecutors’ tactics before they are even presented. They have extensive experience with charges of DUI, drug crimes, theft and all other type of felony and misdemeanor offenses. As you go through the proceedings, you will benefit from your legal support's knowledge of the judicial system and criminal law. Their attorney will work for you both inside and outside of the courtroom - identifying the best legal defense for your case, obtaining evidence and witnesses, searching for faults in the prosecution's case, representing you at trial and more.

Creating a Strategic Defense for You

The firm's goal is to have your criminal charges dismissed. They will closely analyze your case to find the prosecution’s weaknesses and to determine how best to overcome evidentiary issues. If the charges cannot be dismissed, they will seek to get them reduced or to obtain a pretrial diversion on your behalf. In addition to defending against any criminal charge, they can also handle all related matters including professional license defense and college disciplinary hearings.
