How It All Started

The idea of Transmetrics was drafted in 2012 during one of the transport conferences. At the time, Asparuh and Anna were working as consultants for some of the largest companies in the cargo industry. In most of these companies there was an explicit issue of inefficient capacity utilization, so Asparuh decided to do something about it. Having a solution in mind, he tested it out during one of the consultancy projects, and it was a success. It was decided to spin the solution off into a separate company.

In 2013, with the help of Alex and Rado, the other two co-founders of Transmetrics, the idea was transformed into a product. All of the founders complemented each other: Asparuh was a successful serial entrepreneur who knew the logistics market, while Anna was a strong saleswoman and networker, Rado was an excellent programmer and a development team leader and Alex had an extensive experience working with data-driven IT applications for different industries including cargo transport.

Since 2013 Transmetrics has grown from 4 co-founders to a team of 24 highly-skilled employees, and the team is working with world-renowned cargo companies.

Why Transmetrics?

Among the things Transmetrics learned about predictive analytics is that it is very industry-specific. You can’t take the knowledge, for example, in finance, and apply it directly to logistics. Currently, predictive analytics for the cargo transport industry is an under-researched field, and the firm is the first ones to tackle it. The firm is creating a unique approach for analyzing, modeling and predicting transport flows with a very high accuracy, which doesn’t exist anywhere else.

The success of this unique approach requires a rare combination of knowledge in multiple disciplines, and that is why its customers find it hard to develop a similar solution themselves. The company’s advantage comes from having strong experience in both the technical (Big Data and Predictive Analytics) and domain (Transport and Logistics) areas. NetMetrics for Parcel, Pallet, and Groupage

NetMetrics is an automated predictive planning tool specifically designed for express, parcel, pallet, and groupage businesses. The AI-driven software forecasts customer demand per origin-destination hub pairs, weeks in advance. Taking into account all customer requirements and business constraints, NetMetrics suggests the most optimal linehaul capacity plan. Further savings are achieved through timely capacity procurement, dynamic linehaul routing, efficient mix of "own" vs. 3rd-party vehicles, as well as one-way vs. round-trips.

NetMetrics clients have achieved a 14% increase in linehaul capacity utilization and a 7-10% reduction of total transport costs. AssetMetrics is an automated predictive planning tool specifically customized for container shipping lines. The AI-driven software forecasts customer demand per container type and location, 8 to 12 weeks in advance. AssetMetrics also calculates the most optimal storage, repositioning, and maintenance strategy for empty containers. This enables data-driven empty container management on all levels (station/depot, regional, global) and provides full business process visibility.
