The Silicon Review reached out to Mr. Radford for an interview, and here’s what he had to say.

Interview Highlights

How would you describe your professional journey so far? Tell us about a few roadblocks and learning lessons that helped you grow through the years.

In 2015, following a medical-related departure from the military, I founded Trust. Utilizing my network within the government contracting sphere, I successfully secured my inaugural contract with the Department of Transportation. This marked the beginning of a significant chapter in our company’s history. But let’s be honest, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were times I had a real “what have I gotten myself into?” kind of vibe, especially when it dawned on me that making payroll was a massive puzzle I hadn’t figured out. So there I was, no joke, staying awake for three straight days and nights, buried in research, trying to learn everything about running a business on the fly.

Q. Trust is one of the most important currencies of leadership that requires authenticity and consistency to maintain. What’s your take on this?

Well, think about it this way: if leadership’s a currency, then trust is like the gold backing it up. It’s got to be genuine—something you can’t just fake, or it loses its value, right? And just like gold, you’ve got to keep it consistent. You can’t be authentic one day and then switch it up the next; people will notice, and they’ll start doubting your leadership. Trust is that solid base that makes people go, “Yep, I’ll follow this person,” because they believe in what you’re doing and who you are, through and through. It’s that simple yet powerful bond that, once it’s there, everything else just kind of falls into place.

Q. As the CEO of the company, what are your major roles and responsibilities?

When people ask about the main gigs a CEO has on their plate in a company, we’re looking at a list that’s not just long; it’s crucial. A CEO, or Chief Executive Officer, is like the captain of a ship. They steer the entire business, keeping a keen eye on where it’s headed. Their job is to set the big-picture strategies, make sure the company sails smoothly towards its goals, and keep everybody onboard rowing in the same direction. They’ve got to be ace decision-makers because when the going gets tough, it’s the CEO who’s going to call the shots. Plus, they’re the ones building bridges—talking to investors, rubbing elbows with other bigwigs, and getting the word out about the company to the rest of the world. And let’s not forget, a CEO has to keep the troops motivated, make sure they’ve got what they need to do their jobs, and bring on the right people to fill the ranks. It’s about creating a company culture that’s top-notch and that everyone’s proud to be a part of.
