thesiliconreview-steve-whiteside-president-mangan-software-solutions-17In the Oil and Gas and Petrochemical industries, leaders and engineers looking to protect their assets, people and the environment have a daunting task ahead of them. Organizationally, multiple disciplines and business silos hold key information, make critical decisions and use multiple systems to manage risk, safety systems and the performance of these systems. Industry leaders are turning to cloud-based technology to streamline work efforts, costs and eliminate the business silos that impede collaboration and information sharing.

Mangan Software Solutions (MSS), out of Houston, Texas, has developed innovative cloud technologies to help these industry leaders solve those problems and effectively manage risk before incidents occur.

A quick conversation with Steve Whiteside, President of MSS

Brief us about your solutions and services.

We have two proprietary software products, SPInspector and our award-winning SLM v2 platform. The cloud-based SLM v2 platform takes volumes of process safety information and transforms that data into meaningful intelligence, ensuring business leaders have unprecedented visibility to develop and implement informed risk mitigation strategies, deploy resources with confidence and monitor the performance of their safety systems.

Does SLM v2 support multiple industry verticals?

Our software products are in use across a multitude of verticalsaround the world at refineries, gas plants, chemical facilities, and mid-stream operations. Multiple customer segments in process safety, engineering and maintenance departments leverage the workflows, analytics and reporting tools to manage process safety, asset integrity and functional safety programs.

The Oil and Gas industry is bound with government rules and regulations; how does it affect your services and solutions?

One of the value drivers for SLM v2 is that it ensures our clients’ safety systems are designed, implemented and maintained in accordance with regulatory compliance standards, processes and procedures. Compliance plays a crucial role in how companies operate and our software has workflows that standardize and automate the compliance processes that typically drain resources. Business leaders can ensure conformance to internal and external standards leveraging the KPIs and reporting features in the system.

The key to growth and continued success is R&D and Innovation. Is it true in your context?

One of our major differentiators has been our focus on the development and implementation of an innovation strategy that focuses on what the customer needs, and not what we think they want. Our talented experts and engineers work with industry leaders to ensure our system’s workflows are easy to use, effective and efficient. Our investment in technology and development of a flexible and powerful software platform enables us to develop specific and innovative new solutions for our clients and the market.

What Their Clients Say

“BP’s Prior Use vision was to meet compliance at an enterprise level with ANSI/ISA-84 &IEC 16511 and internal standards, and automate the data gathering and calculations to meet these requirements. With no existing product available on the market, the Mangan Software Solutions team was quick to take the initiative to research, develop, test and refine a system that was able to meet our goals in a matter of weeks.”

- Ian Alleyne, I&C Segment Engineering Technical Authority, BP Refining

“We chose MSS because SLM is the only product on the market that could deliver the functionality we needed to meet our organization’s strategic functional safety goals. The software standardizes and streamlines our methods for developing safety requirements specifications (SRS), completing all necessary approval and verifications protocols, and testing of all SIS devices.”

- Dave Rieder, SIS Business Improvement Network Lead, Chevron Refining
