“Rapid growth is possible with the right people,” is the philosophy for the team at Infosemantics. Founded in 2001, Infosemantics is an Ace level consulting firm specialized in Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), Business Intelligence (BI), and Big Data solutions. Infosemantics is known for being a customer-focused organization that has established its reputation through trusted advisor relationships. It has aptly balanced its work in diverse industries - commercial, federal/state/local government, and higher-education - with national and international clients.

Brewing conversation with the CEO, Naren Thota

Why was the company set up? How did you select the vertical and decide to be a part of the global platform?

When we started with the company, all I had with me was my experience working at different organizations, including Oracle and Oracle E-Business startups. While we determined our strategy, we looked at the varied consulting markets and noticed that the market had its focus on low-cost earners, or “bottom feeders.” We conducted some research on the matter because we wanted to find a better way to run our company. Our findings suggested that we hire the best and most earnest workers for the organization, and that’s how we started building Infosemantics step by step.

Could you tell us about the launch of your first product? Please share with us the experience of the first project roll on.

We started with a small scale service for a construction company located in South Florida. That first job and first in-hand customer experience was in support of a small data warehouse, and that’s how we entered the market at the onset.

We are strongly customer-driven, and we strive towards conducting fair business and building on trusted relationships. It’s been almost 15 years now that we have been working with our customers providing advocacy, strategies, and roadmaps. This proves that we were successful with our first project experience.

What were the grounds on which you have expanded your company and its offerings over the years?

We commenced our first project supporting a Data Warehouse, but our prime focus stayed in ERP implementations and upgrades. We take immense pride that in the last 5 years, our Business Intelligence (BI) division has been engaged with numerous projects worldwide and has opened the door for our very own Canadian, Singapore, and Manila offices. This allowed us to have a more cost effective, “blended rate,” without sacrificing quality. Our Singapore office is also a profit center with its own Customer base, (primarily finance and banking) which is serviced by resources within Singapore and from our Manila offices, with delivery and QA management by Senior leadership from the USA and Australia now living in Singapore and Manila.

How big is your organization’s dimension today? Briefly explain the organizational structure.

We started from a narrow step and we have broadened in due course of time. Our company is comprised of about 80 people, generating roughly 15 Million USD a year. Our professional consultants have compiled their years of experience serving clients across Fortune 1000, small-medium businesses, and government institutions. We also have 3 Sales Directors- 2 in the USA, and 1 in Asia.

‘It is difficult to start a venture. But far more difficult to maintain it’ - How would you and your team interpret this saying?

Well, I can bear testimony to the statement because I believe a rookie will have to endure through all hardships while stepping into an industry that is dominated by already established companies. We all have been working in the consulting business for a long time and we did observe many failures. We ourselves have experienced difficulties from time to time, but we continue to focus on our clients and delivering quality projects.

How do you and your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?

Our team is extremely active in both regional and national user groups. We also work towards publishing books and white papers, preparing conference presentations, and we have a 100% referenceable customer base. We stand at the global platform because we have ‘demo instances’ of Oracle ERP and Business Intelligence solutions with free access to anyone who requests it. All said, I think our finesse lies in tabulating presentation and sharing it with our expertise to the communities of Oracle, BI, and other user group meetings.

Where do you see yourself and your company a couple of years from now?

I have already narrated the motive and objectives through which we have been building products to satisfy our customers, I have also mentioned how customer-driven we have been throughout our journey. And I believe our team’s spirit is in helping the clients. We believe in efficient management and as a result our work has been recognized for incorporating best practices for project methodology. All said, keeping our vision ahead of us, we want to keep working with talented individuals, nurturing them, and more importantly, taking good care of them by maintaining a good work/life balance,. For I believe in qualitative work, lest the quantity of workers should affect it.
