Unilog’s: CIMM2 E-Commerce Platform Opens New Doors for the Underserved B2B Marketplace

Founded in Bangalore, India, in 1998, Unilog is a global technology company which delivers e-commerce solutions and enriched product catalogs for the B2B marketplace.

When people often think of e-commerce, they equate it with large online marketplaces like Amazon or eBay for buying and selling consumer goods, everything from apparel and groceries to books and home furnishings. But there’s a whole other side of e-commerce, which gets far less attention, despite the fact that it’s twice the size – B2B.

As Frost & Sullivan predicts, B2B e-commerce will be a $6.7 trillion industry by 2020 and is on track to further outpace B2C retail. Yet, as a segment that has been virtually neglected by e-commerce providers, there are few market solutions that address the specialized requirements of these B2B environments, like ERP integration, automatic inventory synchronization and payment gateways.

Realizing there was this unmet need, global technology company, Unilog, has stepped in to help wholesale distributors and manufacturers create an Amazon shopping experience of their own with its CIMM2 platform, designed specifically for the B2B enterprise.

Creating the best e-commerce experience for B2B buyers
“Our sole focus is B2B, which is what makes us unique,” says SuchitBachalli, president of Unilog. “Our technology is a direct result of our business objectives to provide a best-in-breed e-commerce platform for this underserved segment of the market. Until CIMM2 hit the market, wholesalers and distributors could only patch together a weak e-commerce solution by pulling together different pieces of software, typically designed for B2C retailers.”

The genesis of Unilog is in providing high-quality product content – which is essentially the data service that allows images, descriptions and product attributions to be displayed either in a paper catalog or on an e-commerce site. That’s been its legacy. “This deep focus on product content allowed us to get a ringside view into some of the most advanced e-commerce ecosystems. Then as the market began to mature, we shifted our core business to product development. Hence, our flagship e-commerce platform, CIMM2, was born. Always attracted to the enormous but underserved B2B space, we wanted them to be able to compete effectively with the e-commerce giants like AmazonSupply, which cater to B2B buyers and have been entrenching on their business.”

In 2011, Unilog expanded into the U.S. Today, it serves well-known wholesale distribution companies, including Airgas, Endries (A Wolseley Company), N. Glantz& Son, Kriz-Davis Co., Mayer Electric Supply, McNaughton-McKay, N. Scientific, Norco, North Coast Electric Co., Southern Pipe & Supply, supplyFORCE, The Reynolds Company, and Torrington Supply Co. A step ahead of the B2B e-commerce market By staying true to the core competencies and depth of expertise in B2B, Unilog has created a niche for itself that will enable the company to stay ahead of the curve throughout the ups and downs of the industry. With its current focus being to deliver “Stellar Experiences” for everyone involved: Customers, Employees, Partners and Shareholders, the company plans to expand its U.S. operations further and provide more services around Commerce as a Service in the days to come.
