Today, Telular’s portfolio companies combine the power of SaaS, cloud services, and data analytics to help customers uncover new revenue opportunities, lower operating costs, and improve productivity.
Headquartered in Chicago, the company has additional offices in Atlanta, GA, Herndon, VA, Langhorne, PA, Woburn, MA, and Fort Mill, SC.
Successful Repositioning for Growth
Telular has evolved from a hardware-oriented company to a diversified wireless IoT solutions provider. It has seen tremendous growth over the last three decades through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. Today, Telular’s businesses are focused on two unique market opportunities; commercial telematics and security/home automation.
Telular’s SkyBitz division is a leader in commercial telematics with businesses focused on providing rapidly deployable solutions for enterprise and local fleets, tank monitoring and petroleum logistics. SkyBitz’ end-to-end solutions can dramatically increase customer efficiencies, lower operating costs and unlock new capacity to generate revenue from their existing fleet investment. As an innovator, SkyBitz was the first to bring a SaaS (solution as a service) model to the long-haul trailer tracking industry, making it easier and more cost effective for customers to have the data and analytics they require without the high overhead of hardware. SkyBitz was the first to launch a tracking solution specifically designed for intermodal chassis. And most recently, SkyBitz launched the only two-way global satellite communication and IECEx/ATEX Zone 0 certified tracking device for the oil and gas industry. On a daily basis, our customer success teams are focused on delivering meaningful and rapid ROI through comprehensive turnkey deployment services.
Telular’s Telguard division is an established leader in the wireless security market segment serving North America’s 10,000 independent security dealers. With Telguard solutions, security dealers benefit from increased productivity, reduced support costs and access to new revenue-generating services from Telguard’s broad range of security and home automation solutions. Considered an innovator in the industry, Telguard is the first to deliver a SaaS offering as a cost-effective platform for dealers to manage through AT&T’s 2G sunset and to upgrade their customers to 3G, CDMA and LTE technologies. Telguard introduced the industry’s first sole path wireless alarm communicator for commercial fire alarm applications allowing dealers to eliminate legacy landlines and reduce service costs. Telguard maintains its leadership position by continuously enhancing its portfolio of universal landline replacement solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, fire and PERS markets.
A publicly held company since 1994, Telular was acquired by Avista Capital Partners in 2013. Avista, a leading private equity firm with approximately $6 billion under management, has worked in close partnership with Telular to invest in continued expansion into high growth segments of the industrial IoT market.
The company’s continued growth will come from expanding the reach of its innovative solutions into the broader commercial telematics and industrial IoT markets, as well as key new technology introductions in the security and home automation markets. Through continued investment in its technology platform, the company is poised to both strengthen its first-mover position and expand its reach across the enterprise to deliver additional productivity results for its customers. Acquisitions will likely figure into Telular’s growth plans as a way of building channels into new verticals and to expand the number of use cases for its IoT solutions.
The Telular Difference
“We bring deep domain expertise which is directly relevant to our customers’ businesses. We understand their painpoints and needs because we’ve owned, operated or managed businesses in the industries that we serve. This puts us in a unique position to serve our customers and is central to our commitment of being a part of their success.”
At SkyBitz, we have combined the best available hardware on the market – much of it specifically designed by us to meet our customer’s unique needs – with the simplicity of Solution as a Service (SaaS). The result is a subscription service that delivers the critical insight to ensure their business is running at optimal efficiency without the need for large capital expenditure commitments. We provide turnkey deployment of our solutions across our customer’s fleet and other mobile assets so our customers can focus on running their business while we focus on improving their productivity.
SkyBitz’ customers include leading transportation and logistics companies, private fleet operators and regional and national petroleum distributors.
At Telguard, we continue to lead through innovation and by delivering technologies that enhance a security dealer’s product and service portfolio, creating new opportunities for the dealer to increase recurring monthly revenue. New product offerings, innovative and efficient home automation solutions and expanded customer support have allowed Telguard to expand its dealer base and gain market share in key high value applications.
Telguard’s customers include security industry distributors, regional and national-scale security system dealers and other key players in the security industry ecosystem.
“We focus on adopting innovative technology solutions that enable us to improve responsiveness to our customers and increase productivity.
