Google India makes a MoU with the Telangana Government aiming ‘Digitization’

With a motive to support the digitisation efforts of the state, in a recent effort Google India and Telangana government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

That’s not all Google India will also offer Google Cloud credits and admittance to all cloud platform products to eligible startups engaged with Telangana government's ‘T-Hub’ scheme and through its Developer Relations team offer technical mentorship and advisory support to various startups.

According to the reports the MoU was signed recently in the presence of Telangana Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao and Google India representatives. As a part of the agreement the other initiatives were assembling all government websites mobile friendly and also to initiate programmes that would assist local small and medium businesses go online and keep on safe online.

"Additionally Google as part of Google Cultural Institute project will work with the Culture and Tourism Department of the state to create a digital repository of the architectural and cultural heritage of the state, its history and imagery and make it accessible globally," it said.

As a part of the MoU, it’s been mentioned that Google India and the Telangana government with their programme ‘Internet Saathi’ will work on endorsing digital literacy among rural women.

Speaking after the meeting, Chetan Krishnaswamy, Director - Public Policy, Google India, said, "We are delighted to support the government of Telangana in its vision of a digitally empowered state. We look forward to work with the state government to create an enabling environment and ecosystem to help women, students, small and medium businesses and entrepreneurs."

"Google is a valuable partner of Telangana and we are excited to launch many initiatives with them that will benefit women, small businesses, youth, and others across the state. Our mission is to Digitise Telangana and a partnership with Google will go a long way in ensuring our plans under the Digitise Telangana programme are achieved," Rao said.
