OwnBackup is providing service for SaaS data backup and recovery

Being a client of the cloud is one of the greatest advantages one can avail, customer’s vendors can take care of all the hard management tasks for them- including backup but vendors can’t help in recovery of the lost data of the customers and this is where OwnBackup comes into the scene.

OwnBackup, a backup service for SaaS applications like Salesforce.com has recently announced a $7.5 million Series B funding round led by Insight Venture Partners. Along with the company, existing investors Innovation Endeavors, Oryzn Capital and Salesforce Ventures has also joined hands in the new venture.

OwnBackup has also been working on backup and recovery tools as well for ServiceNow and Slack data, and has more ambitious plans to back up other types of SaaS data over the years. CEO Gutmann has said that in all instances the company is simply taking advantage of the SaaS vendor’s open APIs and tuning them to deal with data backup and recovery.

Pointing towards the future plans, Gutamann has said that the company plans to spend some of the new revenue in expanding the product set, while continuing to build out the sales and marketing branches. The company currently owns 500 paying customers and 30 employees at its disposal that is divided between the corporate offices in Fort Lee, New Jerset and the R&D in Tel Aviv University, Israel.
