Google Quietly Stopped Selling Pixel C Tablet

Google Quietly Stopped Selling Pixel C Tablet
The Silicon Review
02 January, 2018

Pixel C, the Android tablet Google started selling two years back is no longer available. When Pixel C was launched, it was a confounding device with clever hardware equipped with software that didn’t work well on a tablet. Now, the unsure run of the tablet has ended, as it is no longer on the Google’s online store, as per the Android Police.

This is what Google said about the sudden retirement of Pixel C:

“As it is common when a device is out for few years, we’re now retiring Pixel C and it is no longer available. We are committed to updating and supporting it, including the recent update to Android 8.0, so customers can continue to get the best out of their gadget. The newly launched Google Pixelbook comes with the best parts of a laptop and a tablet for those looking for a versatile device.”

Launched in 2015, the tablet that comes from an earlier age of Google hardware, Pixel C was a well-received device when the company took a more experimental turn. And while it was doing fine at the former, it completely failed at the latter. Android tablets are still there in the market, but they’re nowhere near as popular or as useful as the Apple’s iPad.

The passing of the Pixel C from Google’s online store happened very quietly. According to Android Police notes, the URL that used to point to the Pixel C now points to the Pixelbook.

Even though Google has taken off The Pixel C but it did make an inexplicable cameo in Wonder Woman this year. Not a bad last hurrah for a gadget!!!
