IoT makes headway in the US mobile market
The Silicon Review
12 July, 2018

Telecom industry group CTIA reported that there is a rise of data-only devices in the US wireless market. The IoT related additions in Q1 2018 was around 90 cent of it. According to reports it was observed that around 261.9 million IoT smartphones connected to various other devices were used in 2016. There was a 4 percent jump in 2017 by 273 million and the trend is still observed in this year as well. Most probably there will be a huge jump in the usage because this year we saw many such IoT devices.

When we look back to 2013 there were very few such devices. But now the number of these devices has increased to 147 percent in recent times. This means that the growth room is huge and the users are more. By optimizing it for the mobile market, companies will see a better chance of a sale. Maybe in the future, we might see these IoT devices sold with a brand new phone. In other words, how chargers, earpieces and other such devices are sold, these IoT devices will just be tagged along. A market strategy that will not only increase the number of users but also people will be aware of its advantages and will think about upgrading their IoT devices.

We might see a future where every single person will be clinging to an IoT device. Since mobile phones managed to do that, it is highly possible for these IoT devices to do the same. Let us see what happens in the future.
